Ashby put out of his misery, and returned to the bench, Dunne back in. Fox and Edwards in the centre. JCS still as reliable as an old Reliant Robin. All looks good. Let's see what S_E has to moan about this starting lineup. [Post edited 18 Jan 11:40]

Reckon he needs a summer off season that Willock had after his first year. Came back bulked up and could physically hold his own. I can't wait to see a forward line of Chair and Dembele wide, Kolli at 10 with Celar up top. Lots of pace and movement. Varane and Morgan in the CM roles. Quite exciting! |

Good questions, good answers. MC does talk a lot of sense, and thought he explanation about the rotation was fair enough. |

One thing some fans might have to accept is that the Development/U21U18 results will suffer. But, its all for the greater good. |

He's alright, but he doesn't beat his man as he doesn't have pace like Smyth or skill like Chair. I just can't see him starting many games at the moment. I'd take him, but only if he's cheap. |

If he does well we bring him back, if not he gets sold/released. Even if he is scoring at Orient his whole round game might not be good enough for the Championship. We don't see if he is pressing, is he blocking passing lines etc. I hope he gets another chance with us. |

Yeah, saw the both feet finishing. Be interesting to see how quickly he is training with the first team. |

Thanks for this, really appreciated. 17/18 If you're not around the first team, there is no point developing you. What a change from sending 22yo out on loan hoping the might come good. If you have a clear pathway then youngsters will sign for us. |

I've been fairly underwhelmed by Lloydd, he never seems to be completely in control of the ball. However, against Luton I thought he was very good, using his pace and energy to help push Luton back. Should of got 2 goals mind. Really hope he can push on. Just surprised we haven't seen him used as in the wide positions as he has pace to burn like BOS. |

Any change has got to be better than Lineker, Shearer, Richards and the rest. Bloody awful. No real indepth analysis of the game, no one asking interesting or difficult questions. Just a load of blokes laughing at each others pretty crap jokes. |

Napoleon Bonaparte was actually born Napoleone di Buonaparte as he was of Corscican decent. Corsica had only been ceded to France from the Republic of Genoa one year before his birth. Though he learnt French, he had an Italian/Corsican accent throughout his life. |

Excellent news. And remember everyone, "every day is a new start." I think that's my favourite so far. Kolli & Dunne in talks about new contracts allegedly. Interest in Kolli from France is genuine, QPR is his preferred option. All on the interweb, X twitter thingy. |

I was really hoping he would come out flying against Leicester, but there was absolutely nothing. It almost looks like he's thinking 'Sod this, I'm off in the summer'. The lack of effort is insulting to us and his team mates who now just bypass him in any passing move. A big disappointment, I'm just hopeful we can recouped some of the money. |
| Forum Reply | Ashby. at 12:34 13 Jan 2025
It's a lot to do with character. Take Dunne, released by Man Utd, went to Burnley and played a couple of games, but leaves for us as he actually wants to play the game. Ashby, refused a new contract with West Ham, where he was highly rated, and signs for Newcastle. For the money? I get players make mistakes, but he isn't ours, let him make those mistakes in the Newcastle development team. We have shot ourselves in the foot regarding recruitment in the right back spot. I can't believe there is not a right back in the lower leagues who is young, affordable and we can't develop. |

We are discussing Brentford this morning ar work. We really don't get what the club is doing. You can't win the PL, so then what? 12th finish again. Its just weird. Even we didn't lose to Plymouth at home!🤣 |

Great report, and balanced for both sides. Glad you mentioned Saito, been saying to my son for weeks that he doesn't contribute. Not really sure why he gets a free ride, maybe because he runs and tackles. A low bar. |
