This thread is the best one on here at the moment. Good to hear about people actually trying to making a positive difference in our own little ways.
Last year I started landscaping my front garden as a hot/mediterranean style garden as it is south facing and gets super hot. I've filled it with herbs etc and the bees this past week have been loving it.
I often go to RHS Wisley, and I picked up a Cola plant in the spring, just to see what it was like. The thing only smells of fizzy cola bottles, the ones when you were a kid and bought for a penny! |

We have a street light to left of our house and usually it is the place to go if your a moth or spider. This year nothing at all.
I'm going to dig a wildlife pond in my front garden at the end of August, just to do my bit. |

Going to ba a bit Devils Advicate and just chuck a couple of points out there.
If I was the owner I really wouldn't give a toss about 200 hard-core fans that rock up to Preston once a year. Let's face it most season ticket holders turn up, have a crappy beer, watch the game and go home or to the pub.
My impression, and you'll know much more than me, is that Nourry is doing it his way and it is all about driving revenue for the club.
Don't announce signings? Fck you, I can drip feed it out to get social media hits high and generate interest across the summer.
Sell cheap season tickets after most 'legacy' fans have already bought more expensive ones. Fck you. I can get new fans in, who will then buy more expensive ones in the future.
They have chucked a big fat zero Easter eggs out, and yet we all still rock up.
And if/when it goes wrong we will still turn up.
The club feels like it is changing, but unfortunately it means they are going to upset a few. I get the impression Nourry won't care. |

I'm not doom mongering about Russian planes in Alaskan airspace, I said it is nothing new, only that Russia and China are now working together to do it. Not sure how that is childish?

I think you are forgetting the one huge thing that happened 2 years ago that has been the main cause of price rises, increased inflation and higher interest rates. The Russian invasion of Ukraine. And these things all happened globally, not just the US.
As for Americans being worried about WW3, there are real wars happening in Ukraine, Sudan, Israel/Gaza right now.
An isolationist foreign policy, which Trump advocates through his America First mantra (worked well for Charles Lindburgh) is laughable if not so short sighted and dangerous.
Russian and Chinese bombers incurring Alaskan air space, this is not new, only that they did it together. This highlights why the US needs allies as Russia, China, N Korea and Iran move closer. Trump is more dangerous for the US then Europe in the long term. |

7 and 8 is not full academy. I think they get invited along a couple of times a week, plus there will hundreds of kids. They then whittle them down to join the full academy at 9.

Since the 1970s crime has been falling, pre mass CCTV cameras in the public domain.
And lead has a long proven to be a poison for 100 years. Why do you think we don't have lead pipe (unless playing Cluedo) carrying water, or why food is not preserved in lead rather than tin.
I think you're trying to wind people up, as no one with an average IQ would dispute that lead is poisonous. |

Crime across the West has been falling since the late 1970s. And there is a study I read a couple of years ago that shows a correlation between the falling crime rate and the removal of lead from petrol.
Basically lead causes behavioural issues in developing brains. Hence kids today seem, on the most part, a little more level headed.
Regarding the news/media, what do they fill rolling 24hr news with, or to boost ratings, unless it is sensationalist and scaremongering? |

Listen to his speeches, he only uses 1 and 2 syllable words. Very rarely does he use words that are longer or vaguely complicated.
This is done on purpose so that his speeches can be understood at the most basic level.
He is in affect talking to children, and his supporters lap it up as they don't have to think for themselves. They are spoon fed like children.
To vote for this bloke you really do have to be thick. |
