EFL Fixtures out on 26 June.....So
at 10:56 26 Jun 2024

Yeh I don't get the economics of it either.

Apparently a standard Saturday next season will have four televised 1230 games - three Championship and one from League One/Two. To me you're just dividing an already small audience four ways there aren't you? If you've got let's say QPR v West Brom, Leeds v Burnley and Sheff Wed v Blackburn all on Sky at the same time, who's watching Wycombe v Cambridge?

It'll be like that game ITV Digital showed one Thursday night where it would have been cheaper for them to chauffeur everybody who watched it to the game and buy them a ticket and a pint than it was for them to televise the thing.

The body language looks weird to me. A lot of the arms outstretched stuff we saw under Ainsworth - which is rich footballers wishing to convey to the crowd they don't understand/like what they're being told to do. Bellingham has one from best player in the world in the first game to not even the best player for my Monday night team in the subsequent ones.

All very strange. We're a strange watch.

I'm old enough to remember when they promised as part of the new deal to declare all the fixtures up to Christmas straight away at the start.

Some brutal stuff for the 'hobbyists' there. Swansea on Boxing Day no train, Hull and Boro both midweek.
One week in january we're at Plymouth on Saturday then Hull on Tuesday fck me. Talk about 'away fatigued'.
Easter engineering works for Preston.

Ye gods, and that's before Sky take a bite out of the thing.

Pulled that one off red and white halved kit we did a couple of years ago out of the drawer the other day. Now that was fcking beautiful.

Take or leave this one. Looks more like training gear to me. A bit meh.

Donald Sutherland RIP
at 22:33 20 Jun 2024

Citizen X.

An HBO made for TV movie that nobody has ever seen.
Go and use this excuse to look it up now, there are DVDs kicking around for a couple of quid.
It inspired the casting of Chernobyl, and their decision not to make them all do dodgy Russian accents a la Hunt for Red October.
Sutherland is generationally superb in that.

Whatever the whys, wherefores, who's to blame... it's boring. We're boring. Fantastic tournament so far, some terrific games, goals going in from all sorts of angles. And then here we come, Geoff Boycott, straight batt, very, very, very, very slowly backwards and sideways, rainbowing around the oppo final third. Artery hardening stodge.

Maybe it'll win the tournament this time. But fck me we are an attritional watch.

Yeh it's 95% that. Let's be honest, if it was that little Poveda lad at Sheff Wed we'd have been mumbling and grumbling about it.

However, guy hits some hairy, misogynistic truck driver for getting a bit handsy with his bikini-clad GF in a bus queue vs entitled little footballer prick hits working class bloke in the head preventing him feeding his family because he objected to him pushing in the queue for the bus are very different cases. And we still don't know which it is.

Not that I'd be making that excuse if he played for somebody else. Or if it was Richards. Of course. like you say... if you don't like these morals I have others.

It's very easy to talk about scruples etc.

QPR have sacked more managers than just about anybody else over the past 30 years. I dare say a few of those would argue the decision was very harsh, and given things didn't improve much after they left that they weren't really the problem. Ian Holloway and Marc Bircham, for instance, did everything that was asked of them, in difficult circumstances, and got binned off for the Wally with the Brolly on Tony Fernandes' say so at which point the whole team fell apart and needed to be propped up with exactly the sort of expensive loans Holloway had been told he wasn't allowed, while trying to compete in the Championship with Matt Smith and Conor Washington up front.

Don't get me wrong, Gareth Ainsworth is the most out of his depth manager I think I've ever seen here, and Cifuentes showed just what could be achieved with this squad, but to play devil's advocate you've taken a manager away from his job for life at Wycombe, you've handed him what was perceived to be one of the worst QPR teams of all time, dressing room completely all over the place, players who play a completely different style to the guy you've appointed, you've given him no money to do anything about it, he's told you he's a builder not a turn around guy and it will take a lot of time, and you've fired him a dozen games into the following season. Not much talk about scruples there, amongst all the Frank Gallagher memes. But now suddenly we've got a manager we like we're talking about loyalty etc.

Let's also be honest about something else here. If we take one point from the first six games next season, there will be people who want Cifuentes sacked. You've already seen posts on here saying he was lucky last season, stumbled across the right team by accident, "could have had us safe long before if only he'd listened to this message board" (genuinely the most hilarious thing I've ever read on here), so it would only need a few dodgy signings and a small run of results (in the Championship five defeats in a row can literally be two weeks, in which you may have injuries, a flu outbreak etc) and people would be wishing he'd "fcked off to Sunderland after all".

Leaving loftus road...
at 14:20 19 Jun 2024

That whole south side of SAR is an enormous development opportunity.
Army cadet base largely disused, PowerPlay pitches disposable, Springbok hardly ever open, council flats (??) around Batman Close, Loftus Road QPR need to expand, the school which also needs a bigger facility.
You could do all sorts of things (both worthwhile and less so) with that space, that we could be part of.
