Pep on the EFL Cup
at 19:52 25 Sep 2024

Hi Brian! It's autumn harvest time, and the team here at Manx Medical Services are busy collecting body parts!
For a small initial fee, our expert team etc etc

May well be that Taylor Richards is a troll.

The midfield hole
at 08:53 22 Sep 2024

I don't know if rotating players around the pitch is supposed to make us unpredictable, but we were anything but. Possibly because it doesn't come organically to a lot of this team.
Presumably, Marti outlined the type of player he wanted in the summer, the analysts analysed, and chose the current lot. Some of them don't look up to it - yet. A big change for a lot of the new lads, it's going to take them a bit of time to adjust. We know Marti has it in him to be pragmatic, he's going to have to find a 'middle way', it'll be fascinating to look back at this start, at the end of the season.
There's problems to solve all over the place. I really like Dunne, but I can see why they want a more 'footballing' right back. But, he adds much needed height, and yesterday showed how much we need it. Good luck squaring that circle!

Madsen needs to get a bit more pro-active IMHO, but totally agree about Paal, I thought he was our most progressive midfielder when he dropped in to that position.

The things you lot know the taste of is a trifle worrying, to be honest.

He actually said 'a lightweight organisation', they heard what they wanted to.

I thought so too, said it somewhere else. Hughes's foul was a definite booking as well. It's almost as if the refs feel these games should be played in the manner of a competitive friendly.....

I thought the ref showed what would happen if we put a hard tackle in. Certainly didn't apply to Hughes or Munoz (or whatever his name is)

I saw the same EDB, albeit on TV and not at the game, that I've always seen - technically very good, but not involved enough. I find him hugely frustrating, as he has the skill set, physique etc, but I've never seen him impose himself on a game.

I'm pretty sure their defender clears Dunne's initial header off the line with his arm. After that, anything is game.

Lovely, lovely goal.

Madsen looked better after Anderson went off though, I don't think you can have the two on the pitch together.
Dunne and Paal my two picks today, but transitioning the ball from back to front was a real problem.

Wednesday a very physical side, Anderson and Madeson looking very lightweight.
Really like Frey, but playing on the break, may be one for Celar.

Interesting to see how Madeson and Anderson fit in, how Dunne does in the middle (With Cook talking to him, thank goodness), how Hevertton does. Presumably Morrison is injured, which is a shame as he's impressed.
I'm not overly optimistic today, but then I never am.
Please talk round me!

Harry Kane
at 07:21 11 Sep 2024

Trouble with Kane is, he's too good to drop, and has played when he has clearly not been fit - the last euros and the latter rounds of the world Cup in Russia spring to mind.
But that was weak management imo, and the lack of a top class replacement.
I think if you swapped Kane for Harland, City would be a better team, all told.
