| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 23:19:11 I have no idea what Ralf was thinking today. It was a case of playing players who we already know are not good enough. Forster can't catch a cold in a hospital let alone a ball. El-no-usey is just that. Stephens seems to have become Championship class. Stuart Armstrong would be great for say Derby or Forest. This side needs some serious surgery in the summer. If you count the money wasted on these players and all those on loan and you realise just how bad the Reed/Krueger time was. I almost think Ralf used this to show how bad the fringe players are. As for I_Would... you can't blame Prowsey. He came on and put the ball in to great areas. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:34:49 As RH said "If you are 2-0 up in both legs and fail to win, maybe you don't deserve to win". Too many fringe players in the team, Cedric is a right back and not a left back and you could see that certain players are not good enough. El younoussi was not even there for 3/4 of the match before he just did the odd good thing. Johnson put in a great cross for Long but was clearly removed at half time so he didnt get sent off. Sammy G offered nothing and Slattery looked totally lost. I thought JWP was great but apart from that a bit of an off day. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 10:36:58 I can't disagree with Saint Marco more. We were playing Stoke City! So we prepared by sending out a negative 4-2-3-1 formation. Sure he went for pace but only Sims listened in training. Tadic was drifting about and Redmond had no idea whether to stick or twist. We went into the match thinking "Must not lose" rather than "We must win this". If ever 2 up front was a requirement it was against a leaky Stoke Defence. After 60 mins he finally decides to change it and go aggressive. Gabbi was a breath of fresh air and we dominated. But for a boufal header (if you can call it that) and Butland doing what he does best we could have won it. BUT! 30 mins is not enough to terrify an opponent. If you can't give your team belief for 90 mins or set out to win then week after week the confidence drains. MP is a tactical dinosaur. The sooner he goes the better. Our black box is broken. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 21:03:00 As much as I can't stand Redmond his 4.5 was harsh. Sure he was no Josh Sims but he did some decent things today. That said it is time that Josh Sims was a regular starter. But for an amazing save the lad would have scored a screamer. They say our academy is not as good as it was. Well Sims, Targett, Hesketh, Seager could all be banging on the door. As for the match as a whole? Well same stuff different day. Wasn't until Romeu (Too defensive) and Tadic left the field did we look much better. I have to say a midfield 2 of Lemina and Hjobjerg is much better for us than Romeu. He is hard as nails but a yellow card waiting to happen and offers very little going forward. Same isolation of the striker. Finally we play 2 up front as a panic and it pays dividends. Tactically Pellegrino is a dinosaur. If it doesn't work... keep doing the same thing... when not winning he finally does something. Why not start the game with those tactics? |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 23:20:33 Great win and a great game to watch. What worries me is you just have to lump it in the corridor of uncertainty and we will ship goals. Stephens made up for his error though. Worth remembering that West Brom are terrible. So we have beaten West Brom twice, Everton when they were terrible, Palace when they were terrible and West Ham when they were having a poor start. Hopefully there are 3 teams worse than us. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 10:21:14 Time to drop Davis, Romeu and Tadic. Put Lemina, Boufal and Gabbi in their place. I know Romeu is a battler but that is all he is. If we continue to play this system then we don't need someone like that. We need pace and skill and someone to get us going forward. Oh well the season ticket will be cheaper next year. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:48:06 I cannot believe we continue to play Redmond. Impact sub maybe but he is light on the ball, gets bullied, is a one shot pony who can only cut in and shoot and offer very little in crosses. Add to the fact that Davis is our captain but has the shooting ability of a blind squirrel and Tadic is about as much use as a tit on a fish and you can see why we can't score. Claude played the same way and isolated the striker with little or no service. No midfielders playing one twos with the striker and believing they will score. MP is doing exactly the same. It is like nothing has changed. Meanwhile Hjojberg and Clasie are ostracised. People slate JWP but at least he creates chances! GK - McCarthy LB - Targett CB - Hoedt CB - Yoshida RB - Cedric LM - McQueen DM - Romeu AM - Lemina RM - JWP CF - Austin CF - Gabbi At least it gives a chance for delivery and goals. Why is 4-4-2 such a dirty word? 4-2-3-1 is about as successful as a dart in a dingy. |
