Me, for the first time in a long time. Too bad, really. |

So, Gazza has gone to try his luck at Stoke. My guess is he was probably afraid of getting the sack after an ultimately lackluster season, so jumped before he could be pushed. It is promising to be an interesting summer, after all. |
| Forum Thread | Boro Game A Must Win For Rams at 03:58 20 Apr 2018
I thought the Sunderland home match was a must win. I thought the Burton away match was a must win. But if we lose to Boro on Saturday, I really think our playoff hopes might be over for this season. COYR |

I don't see much changing any time soon. By my reckoning, the senior players leaving at the end of the season are Baird, Shackell, Pearce and Bent. So we may see a few players arriving, but probably not a lot. The players we really need to get rid of will still be here next year: Butterfield, Blackman, Anya, Johnson, Weimann and Martin. The manager will continue to work with one hand tied behind his back. So I see next season as being much like this one. |

Johnny was never one of my favourite players, but something seems to have gone with his departure. Perhaps its aggression, or doing the unexpected, or speed; but certainly something. |
| Forum Thread | Johnny Russell at 22:18 10 Mar 2018
I never thought I would find myself saying this, but the Rams are missing Johnny Russell. Anya is no sort of a replacement, and Lawrence is a disappointment so far. |

I have to say I like to see youngsters like Bird and Guy given a chance; the club sorely needs to get more of them to become competitive players. Also, George Thorne has to be brought back into the team. But some of the others? Shackell, Pearce, Anya, Russell? I agree, there was little good to say about these people playing. |

During my footballing career I played at some of the lowest levels organized football is played. Yet I can honestly say that I have never seen three such ludicrous goals in one match as conceded by the Rams at Bramall Lane. These were goals conceded by players whose minds were not on the job. The Kieftenberg saga was also amateur hour, but the good news is it allowed us to get rid of Butterfield. Addition by subtraction, as it were. |

I think the defence will be pretty good. For now, midfield relies too much on the players who were ineffective last year: Butterfield, Johnson, Bryson, Russell, Anya, Weimann. Much rests on Tom Lawrence. I don't see how we can score enough goals to maintain a strong challenge. |

James Bailey now playing for Carlisle, after seemingly a couple of years out of League football. |

I thought you were being too pessimistic. 54 points is an awful lot to finish in the bottom three. Yes, we are a mediocre team, but... |
| Forum Reply | January Window: the Rams' Moves So Far at 04:32 20 Jan 2017
Several players moving out on loan: midfielder Callum Guy to Port Vale, defender Farrend Rawson to Coventry and winger Andreas Weimann to Wolves. All moves are for the rest of the season. It also looks as though striker Charles Vernam may be going on loan to Coventry, but is needed here for this weekend. |
| Forum Reply | Paging Mr Weimann! at 04:30 20 Jan 2017
Well Weimann is not going to be an option: gone on loan to Wolves for the rest of the season. He is still our player for the next two seasons after this one, until his contract runs out, but this is an important move. It showed that the rams realize Weimann is not part of our future, and the club is trying to move out the dead wood. |

The deSart move also suggests that we won't be seeing George Thorne any time soon, of course. Also today, the Rams signed David Nugent from Middlesboro for about 2 1/2 million. This seems to be a recognition that some of the expensive strikers we have signed are not doing the job. Will we be seeing some exits in the window? |
| Forum Thread | January Window: the Rams' Moves So Far at 05:57 8 Jan 2017
The first week has seen defensive midfielder Julien De Sart arrive on loan from Middlesboro for the rest of the season. Credible reports suggest we had an offer for Henri Lansbury turned down by Forest. This suggests that Steve Mac is not impressed by his midfield options, despite having plenty of players. First out of the door is Lee Grant making his move to Stoke permanent, for 1.3 million. |
| Forum Reply | What Does The Future Hold For Jason Shackell? at 05:53 8 Jan 2017
Following the West Brom cup tie, it is looking as though Jason probably will not be going anywhere in January. Could be hard luck for Pearce if Shackell keeps his place, but somebody had to be scapegoated for the Norwich fiasco. |
| Forum Reply | Could it be Time For Charles Vernam? at 05:50 8 Jan 2017
So, a brief appearance for Charles in the WBA cup tie. If nothing else, it serves notice to Johnny Russell and Andreas Weimann that they need to start contributing. |

Luke Varney's latest club is now Burton. A bit of a surprise, as I didn't think Clough liked him when he was at Derby. |
| Forum Thread | Rams Need Firepower in January Window at 19:43 1 Jan 2017
Its looking in recent matches as though other teams have sussed out our over-reliance on Tom Ince for scoring goals. Since Bent, Vydra, Russell, Weimann, Butterfield and Hughes don't look like scoring, we made need to bring someone in . |
