Whilst I understand the underlying sentiment, QPR shouldn't be offering new contracts to ageing, ineffectual players (Colback, Fox, Anderson) because of a fear of churn. And even the players we wish to keep (Dunne, Chair, Kolli) may want to move on to pastures new. Naturally I hope they re-sign but it's in their hands so change may be inevitable. What I would agree with is if these players decide not to renew that QPR don't try to replace them all with analytical targets from abroad. Should the experienced players move on, that experience will need replacing with seasoned championship campaigners. |

Agree. The reaction to the double setback, particularly in the second half, shows the strides that the team has made in recent weeks. Very pleased for Fox in particular. He had a tough start to the season but he slotted in seamlessly after Cook was withdrawn. |

Short answer to the OP's question is No. There was no contact, it was just an unfortunate injury. The striker had every right to continue. Had it been the other way around, I'd expect the same. |

Despite the rich vein of form and lofty position, I rarely feel comfortable when it comes to QPR. This game has a habit of biting you in the bottom when you get comfortable so I'll be supporting the lads with the same fervour as if we were still in a relegation dogfight. |

Silly comparison with Alan Mac by the OP on so many levels. Dunne is an average CB but by gum he's a great RB. It'll be interesting to know whether Jimmy now sees himself as a RB or still harbours a desire to play in the middle. |

We could do with being more clinical but the boys showed great character to bounce back from going a goal down and losing our skipper to eventually get the job done. I think it depends on the situation.
With respect to forwards, some scenarios require a quick finish, others afford more time to think. The key for me is maintaining composure, making a decision and sticking with it. Training should make this thought process more instinctive. However, sometimes having too much time to think about it can be counter productive. Lyndon Dykes was the classic example. He always seemed more comfortable when striking on instinct.
With respect to passing, I suspect that the thought process is similar to what you experienced in rugby with some thought required as to where the ball needs to go (i.e. into feet, into space or just into a good area). There was a good example of this yesterday where Morgan had an opportunity on the break to play Lloyd in. Unfortunately, he tried to play to feet which allowed the defender to intercept. Sinton immediately said that he was trying to be too accurate and should've played the ball into space, away from the defender, for Alfie to run on to.
IMHO the best players appear to have lots of time and space. A good footballing brain and continuous clever movement creates this. I remember once watching an analyst review Paul Scholes. Off the ball he was constantly surveying his surroundings and adjusting his position accordingly to find pockets of space. He would also build a picture in his mind before receiving the ball so he instinctively knew the right play when he received it. |
