Brian Clough's Derby County

It seriously rankled Clough. He referred to us as”that shower from Shepherds Bush”.

Good old Frank Clarke who forced Mackay's error. A real old fashioned striker who took a lot of pressure off Marsh.

Mr. Cholmondley-Warner on commentary, superb.

Was at that game, brilliant atmosphere. 55 years ago, just sounds weird.

was there as well in that little wooden ellerslie road stand with me grandad.
lovely pitch, and pitch battle outside all along south africa road as well.
bought tickets for the chelsea game but me and a mate, mugged for them under the railway bridge at dalgarno gardens on the way home.
terrace tickets were untraceable then.....33,000 sell out.

Poll: how many games this season....home/away.

Derby probably thought it was like playing on a bowling green compared to their Baseball Ground.

Sorry to hear that - even after all these years. I’m wondering how they knew you had tickets? Were you followed all the way from the ground and they chose Scrubs Lane to jump you or were you talking about them (the tickets) and a random opportunistic c*nt pounced?

gotta feeling we were followed.
little pockets of chelsea going backwards and forwards along wood lane from the ground to that railway bridge. touts were sending kids and teenagers to the kiosks to buy tickets for them as well.

Mad stuff but very of the time. My first footy memories begin about 4 years later and a very similar vibe. Spotters, dodgy erberts, and on most occasions having to keep your wits about you etc.

Famous photo of Rs fans with their Chelsea cup tickets - not sure if it’s the actual match day. I wonder if anyone in the photo posts on here. Somebody must know them.

it was roughly 4 years later when we played leeds last game or near to last game of the season.
got down to the ground to buy tickets, thousands already down there, went with loads of mates this time, all out the suttons, but we were mid teenagers now, so no repeat of the chelsea game. as you say, same vibe, loads of touts again sending kids and teenagers to buy their tickets, there were actually kids getting wise to it as well and running off with their money.
obviously more qpr fans this time, so not so dodgy.

From memory, the way Rangers chose to sell the tickets caused a lot of problems & led to there being more C------fans than Rangers at the match!

Tickets were sold on a Saturday when Rangers were away to Hull & you qualified by being a member of the supporters club or by producing a copy of the Derby programme. Chelsea were at home to Liverpool that day, but unfortunately that game was postponed due to the weather & so thousands of them were around Shepherds Bush.

How they got hold of the programme I have no idea ( I could, but won't, speculate), but it appeared that more programmes were shown to buy tickets than had been sold at the Derby match! They did mark the programme when purchasing a ticket so that it couldn't be reused, so that wasn't the reason behind the debacle!
