If Wallace had trained all summer and was cheaper than chips I'd have him back no problem. Him and Paal as LB options would do fine. Couple of 'ifs' involved there I know...

Transfer Rumours on 21:49 - Aug 10 with 3351 views | davman | So has Micky Boy been sold a pup? Do you think that he was promised more, but is now being told that we can't sign any more without selling; hence why these two that were "really close" when we were in Germany have never materialised. With JCS out for an indefinite time (no clue whether its one game, five, ten or the whole season...), selling Dickie is not so attractive and no-one in their right mind will sign Willock following the diabolical way his season started being rushed back far too soon. So, there isn't going to be any any outgoings, which means no incoming. Makes the pursuit of McNamara even more perplexing - if they have money for that, surely they have money for other signings?

Well it certainly explains why we spent weeks publicly offering insultingly low amounts of money for Macnamara while fluttering our eyelashes - it’s all we could afford. Total waste of time and embarrassing all round. Why the club thought that was a good idea I find odd

One of the ones close to signing in Germany was Richards wasn't it? The other I assume is the RB which is going to be Sterling now

I think he said in one of his first interviews that he didn't think he'd get where he wanted straight away. If he's come here thinking he was going to get everything he wanted then i'd be very surprised. It was clearly not the case so why would he think that?

Why are you calling him Micky boy? Is it another attempt at silly names for managers, like calling Warburton the bread man as if it was actually witty? It's about as amusing as diarrhoea. Nothing he's said so far has given any indication that he's been misled. He's clearly an astute man who's done his homework. He knows already what's important to the fans, e.g. about mentioning Stan Bowles in interviews. Why on earth would someone in and around football like he's been not know that we aren't a rich club and that he'd need to develop players himself rather than buy them in? He obviously would've stated his willingness to do this in interviews, otherwise he wouldn't have got the job. Calling Willock's start to the season diabolical when we don't even know whether or not there's a real issue or his withdrawal is precautionary is just hyperbolic. The reality of the transfer market is that publicity and offers for players are used to unsettle players and get them for a cheaper price. It's happened to us countless times and I'm not especially shocked if we've tried with McNamara. We had nothing to lose by putting in some low ball offers but I'm sure we've been looking at other players at the same time. They might consider McNamara worth spending a bit of cash on but not see the value long term of spending that amount on players without such a long term future, which seems sensible to me.

Nathan Ferguson is an interesting name. Burst onto the scene at WBA, including a goal against us, but suffered a bad injury at Palace, has played 10 minutes of first team football for them, and is out of contract at the end of this season. A player that can play both sides would be an efficient approach although a specialist right back like Sterling (Any Kyle Walker types out there?) with Kakay providing cover at LB/RB might be the way forward. Unless we sell Bonne, I wouldn’t sigh a striker. Go with what we got until January, which would see Dykes, Roberts & Armstrong, all competing for one spot. When Richards is fit, I would consider dropping Chair back to CM with Field and Amos, playing Willock, Roberts and Dykes as the front three. Apart from at full back, the injuries we have at the moment are more detrimental than a lack of new signings. Get everyone fit and we have a team that can give anyone in the Championship a game, with enough talent to win more than we lose. [Post edited 11 Aug 2022 9:27]

Sorry, what have I got to call him - Michael, Mike, Mick, Micky, Sir, Mr. Beale - if you can let me know what I'm allowed, that'd be great thanks. "Micky boy" is hardly an insulting moniker, but if it upsets you so much, I'll refer to him how you tell me. You are probably right on whether he knew - of course he did with the amount of preparation the guy clearly does, but I do wonder if he realised the standard of our back up players. He is right though, they are what we have, so we have to get behind them. On Mr. Christopher Willock, again, you are right, I do not know the facts. How frustrating is it though to see the difference he (and Mr. Luke Amos) made only to be told that their out again (with no indication of for how long). One can be seen to be bad luck, but if neither were ready and risked, it is diabolical. And I understand your last para, but being generous, it seemed an "odd" strategy when the message that we have no money unless we sell is the rhetoric coming out of the club. Genuinely sorry for offending you with a post borne out of frustration with the club, like you, I love. This is shaping up to be a really difficult start to the season and without CW, we have looked slow, laborious and, pretty crap so far. Hopefully that will change soon and they surprise us on Saturday.

I know that feeling well. However, I personally believe we should give a new Coach more than three games to prove himself. One of which we won anyway.

Obviously you can him whatever you like, it's not my website I'm just another punter. I just think it sounds patronising, which is unfair three games in. But we'll leave it that you call him what you like and I'll reserve the right to think it's a bit lame. We're all frustrated about injuries but it's a bit over the top to call it diabolical when we don't know the full situation. We all get upset but surely it's best to go into full frustration mode if/when we're still without a decent right back in addition to Kakay past the end of August and if we're languishing just above relegation at Christmas. It's not your job to make me happy, you don't owe me a thing, but I'm going to bite back if I think it's over the top/unfair. The reason being that there's no doubt it winds people up and we need the fans behind the team at this stage of the season, not thinking we're f*cked on 11th August.

Fair enough, but I have not written him or the team off by any stretch of imagination. Hopefully things will have settled by the time the WC break comes round...
