I hear you, brother.

Yep, took a fair few a while on here, but there’s no doubting that when LTC is a mainstay in your midfield you’ve definitely hit rock bottom.

If anyone could throttle our attempt to play a wing back system it was Carroll. I’m tempted to say the day he pulled up here was the day that saved Warbs his job.

"How depressing is it that my youth consisted of heroes like Johno, Scowie, Sticky, Wrighty, Dyer, Stewart, Mogga, Jim, Clapham etc whereas now you struggle to remember players that were even in last years squad! "

It emphasizes how well we are doing in comparison now.

Always been the same really hasn't he. There's sort of something there, but not quite.

I watched Ipswich last night and my good God they were absolutely horrendous.

“He took responsibility for getting on the ball” that’s always been the main defence for him. The counter of course is that he doesn’t do anything with it….or at least in a way to impact the game.

I felt LTC was better 2nd time around for us. Our way of playing suited him. But never a starter for us. Would argue his injury led to us signing Johanson.

The lower down the leagues he goes the worse he will be. He's not made for the rough n ready, bobbly pitches of lower leagues. He's straight out of academys that have an emphasis on possession based football. Him playing league 1 is the same as Bettache. Pointless.

I always thought he was too lightweight and prone to pass the ball sideways or backwards even the first time round. Standing joke in our house as husband rated him and Will Keane (clearly what does he know!).

He helped us out a bit when we needed someone to do a job and I should imagine he was very cheap as he didn't have a club at the time. Was glad when he moved on, though, as the players we got in are clearly a big upgrade.

I know I'm not a fan of Ipswich & last night made me want to laugh (that is what living in the town does to you)!

However, for the first time, I felt for their supporters. LTC was no worse than any of their other players, but I would have struggled to give as high as a 4 to any of the starting eleven.

My youngest son said that appointing Neil Harris as manager had greatly risen in his thinking! As had Neil Warnock.

There will still be over 20,000 at ther Sunderland game this Saturday though.

I think that's about fair. He did have far more forward passes than we sometimes thought, though, and was (imho) better than the slating he sometimes got.

I remember tracking his passing stats and his forward passes were actually fairly high - mixed in with all those sideways passes, but equally it was noticeable to the eye that he rarely made the killer forward pass - a typical forward pass for him was from holding midfield across the halfway line and to Chair in the inside left position, which still left Chair with the hard job of making the killer ball that might split the defence.

He also did a good job of shielding the left-back position, which was a real hole for us during his time here and was regularly targeted by the oppo.

Overall, though, Johansson, Amos, Field and Dozzell all look like upgrades.

We can observe how coached under Warbs and co, LTC improved and now under normal managers, he has regressed back to his lacklustre form.

We got lucky he would not accept that contract, cost us a mill for Dozzell as his replacement, but was worth the spend from what I have seen. And Dozzell is young and sellable in the future.

We used to have players who left us and went on to be better players elsewhere. Now apart from Eze, we have players like LTC, Paul Smyth and others who dropped down and are continuing to drop further some of them.

Shows we have moved on from the bad old days. Once again Evil Les, Dr Hoos and Warbsball must get the credit along with the rest of the staff.

zzzzzzzzzz

I thought he was quite good for us last season, doing a similar job to what Dozzell is doing at the moment, shame he got injured when he did as he could have flourished with the loan players around him

I thought he was one of our best players at the start of last season when we were struggling. He's a bit of a luxury though. You put him in a team with chair/willcok and he will pick a pass easy. But when you're in a dogfight and need to win a physical battle he's never going to be your man. Would make a great five a side player!

I thought he was way below where we needed him to be, anonymous and ineffective most games and we massively improved once he was out of the side.

really? Would agree with that for his first spell but he was of the few players we had who did well first half of last season

Sorry Dave, he was just nowhere near good enough. I am with NK and SteveC.

The side improved immeasurably without LTC in it as the results show.

I would be pro- Carroll and think he was doing a very fine job in a poor team this time last year. Would like to have seen him alongside a player of Johannsen's class rather than Ball's. That is the only fair way to judge if Dozzell or indeed Field is an upgrade on Carroll. We will never know for sure.

He was quite rightly released, that must be his 10th club not to resign him.....that tells the full story. How he has earned a living out of the game I will never know but fair play to him.

Never gave us much at all, playing a yard or two off the back players, receiving the ball in 'nothing areas', passing it sideways and back, rarely getting far enough forward to get a shot off, never got wide enough to put in telling crosses, could not tackle, weak, prone to injury....how anyone can actually think he was any good at all I will never know!!! But, hang on, posters think Shodipo is a good winger and we should give him another contract!! despite not getting a regular game at very average Div 1 side, Sheffield Wednesday.

As I said at the time when LTC contract was up for renewal, he is not good enough for us and we should not be event thinking about a new contract. He was released and we still think he was good, now Ipswich supporters are posting about him!!!

I thought he was ok in the first half of last season, started to link up fairly well with Chair and had a decent pass. However, the midfield players that have joined since are an upgrade.

I think he isn't popular with supporters because he isn't very physical, doesn't score and sticks to the basics of the job he has been asked to do. Rarely stands out.

We did offer him another year, although we don't know on what terms, but he declined the offer.

Why would we offer him another contract???

If we did, and I am not sure that we did-I am not in the know, presumably Ipswich were offering him more money......more for Ipswich I say if that is the case.

It was publicised last summer the club offered him a deal, well before Dozzell and Johansen were announced so quite early in the summer. Carroll decided not to take it - probably didn't guarantee him regular first team football. He was on trial with Derby for a bit wasn't he? Obviously decided to stay clear of that car crash before pitching up at Ipswich.

Thats not really his game thought thats like judging Chair on how many tackles he makes. He was a pass and move midfield player, did the role pretty well for us.

The side improved as we brought in Austin, Stef and co plus changed formation. I don't think Carroll getting injured had much to do with it.

If LTC was, actually, any good he would not have been moving from club to club when his contract ended....he must of played for 10 clubs!!! He is now plying his trade in a Division below us in a very average side (see Norf's comments) and still not getting a regular game, played in the FA Cup 2nd round, and we all know its like a reserve game, against Barrow and was replaced at HT!!

He plainly was not good enough for us and I struggle to believe that we offered him a contract to play football.....please give me the article that says that we offered him a contract and he refused it because I, just, do not believe that we did and will not until I read it on a web site like QPR.

Nothing against the player, didn't shurk his responsibilities, just plainly not good enough.
