I'm supposed to be in the office tomorrow. I might pull a Sainty. I'll turn up at my desk, mis- send the odd email and then drop a few sensitive documents on the floor. Roll my eyes and then sit in front of my computer going through the motions. But do it really absent me mindedly as I'm on holiday the following week.

Could I ask that each of you on this brilliant website donate £40 to my bank account please? I'll give you a lazy little clap if you do. Cheers, have a good summer.

A strong line up for a game that did not matter. Thank goodness it did not matter. Imagine if relegation had been between us and Cardiff. Cardiff at Man U and Saints with a home game against Huddersfield.... We are not very good as our position in the table clearly reflects.

The game summed up the season. Unable to hang on to a lead and giving away silly goals. At least we have a manager who knows the score and what needs to be done. Lets hope we have a board who will back him.

Dull game which showed really why we are where we are. All our full backs had already mentally packed and gone on holiday, our strikers were back to their old tippy tappy hesitant ways trying to pass the ball into the net rather than shoot, and an individual error in defence cancelled out a great goal and from a winning position...again.

Best bit about the game: Iron Fran at half time and his reception

Bit that totally summed up the game:the bloke 'running' on the pitch, bowing to every stand while being pursued at an equally slow rate by the groundstaff, who also looked like they couldn't really be bothered.

Thank F that season is over. Hope Ralph is given what he needs to have a good crack at next year. Best wishes to all Saints fans for a great summer.

Thank goodness this season is over. Absolute s**** at the beginning, absolute s**** at the end.

A whole season of "we need to learn from our mistakes" , a whole season and they have learned nothing at all.

What a load of aimless crap we had to put up with today, half this team needs putting out of their misery for good. No wonder there were hundreds of empty seats and thousands left before the final while thousands more couldn't be bothered to stay for the lap of appreciation.

Hutch was not at all happy with what he saw today and clearly wants and expects big changes over the summer. We must hope that Gao can match his ambition. The next three months may well decide our future as a Premier League club.

Promised an attacking performance from a team wanting to win the game, but RH didn't sufficiently motivate his team and we got a typical end of season nothing performance.
Far too pedestrian like all our performances since we have been virtually safe, only this time we didn't concede the usual 3 goals !!
Had some good chances but were frustrating in front of goal. Ings wants too many touches instead of shooting first time, JWP too scared to shoot and has to get everything into his right foot all the time, Redmond although prepared to run at them, needs to know when to pass or shoot. He got a super goal, but unfortunately after that, the team thought they had done enough and went back to slow mode.
With 20 mins left in front of over 30k fans, you would think they would want to win the game and put in a performance for the fans, but no. Players became lazy and didn't seem to want to amend Gunn's error.
The game was summer up as we approached injury time. The fans wanted us to press forward and get a winner, but Stephens was content with passing it back to the keeper on at least 3 occasions.

Not much to cheer about, so further proof that RH has a massive rebuilding job ahead of him. Need to get rid of at least 10 or 12 and sign 4 or 5.

Finally well done to Iron Fran.

Not worth rating the players or reporting on the match. Except maybe to give 10/10 to Austin, Long, Stephens as parting gifts. I hope. The point now is to see how this weird squad gets shuffled.
I personally want to see us be rid of Stephens, Austin, Long, Elyanoussi, Gallagher.
And I think we'll sell McCarthy too.
And I think that it would be a mistake, especially if there's not much money floating around, to outright buy Ings.

Just imagine how everyone's going to feel if our main striker on the first day next season is Ings, Austin or Long. Even the biggest optimist would have to give up at that point. So this all means we'll be needing new strikers. Clearly Obafemi is going to be one. Maybe try Carillo out under new management. But definitely at least one new striker required, as we all know.

I think loanees Reed and Hesketh will be given a chance to make the team.

And I think some youngsters will also be blooded, including Alfie Jones at CB.
But even so, a good centre back is needed, as we all know.

So I don't really expect many new signings. In fact we'll make more progress with "addition by subtraction," getting rid of unproductive resources. IMHO next year will be an evolution mostly from below with youngsters, plus a new striker and new CB.

You read it here first (ha-ha! Pretty much what everyone's been saying all season).
