CommonSaint added 20:11 - Feb 11 Manager showed no clue substitutions were like for like, we where 2 down why the hell like for like. we used 14 good players out there today pity they are not one TEAM. As for clipity Kloop well if the substitutions did not give the one finger salute to Southampton football club Then I do not know putting on Lovren when they were 2 up and dominating the play and there was only 5 minutes to go. a disgrace and disrespectful to Southampton Football club. as for Pelligrino well time for him to go the way we play under him is relegation material, we need someone (anyone) to shake things up we can not keep playing the square ball then start going backward, Passing well in the second half we must have passed the ball to Liverpool 90% of the time. forallthesaints added 21:23 - Feb 11 Well, that was a firm blow to the gonads. Apart from a dreadful mistake by Hoedt for the first goal, we played quite well for 40 minutes and when going forward with pace, Saints did cause problems for Liverpool. A couple of decent chances were saved well by the keeper but the best fell to JWP who headed it straight to Karius with no power at all. What happened in the second half is anyone's guess. Unlike some fans overheard on the way out, I am certain that the manager did not instruct them to limit the damage and keep it to 2-0. You only had to hear his interview afterwards to tell he was a tad disappointed with the second half display. And rightly so, it was awful. No pace, no urgency, no ideas. When Liverpool go forward, almost all of them go forward so can be susceptible to a quick break. But each time we won the ball and moved it up the field, the forwards had to wait for someone to come up in support. On one collapse of a Liverpool attack, I counted 6 Saints players walking out of defence. No wonder Tadic or JWP couldn't go further forward with Carrillo surrounded by Matip and VVD. It was lacklustre and there was a warning sign after the second goal when the Saints players' body language was that of abject defeat. It looked as though they gave up there and then and decided they didn't want to get thrashed. So it really didn't matter what the manager said at half time. Countless half-arsed passes went straight to Liverpool players or straight out of play. No one had a good second half or even looked that bothered and, while he may not be up to much, you can't blame the manager for that. One other niggle was that Firmino could and should have booked for three outrageous dives and a nasty tackle from behind in the first 20 minutes but the ref didn't even talk to him. He seems to have taken up Sturridge's diving mantle. But, despite the poor performance in the second half, we were well and truly beaten by a much better side and it could have been four or five if they'd taken their chances in the second half (it was mildly amusing to see Lallana miss a sitter near the end). landerwal added 22:45 - Feb 11 Lemina going off was a turning point. He put in a great first half performance breaking up Liverpool attacks and bringing the ball FORWARDS and still keeping it after 2/3 tackles. Luckily it seems the reason for him coming off were for continual vomiting not physical injury. After watching the rest of the match I had similar symptoms to his. Royboy48 added 23:56 - Feb 11 Substitutions transformed the game Wolves front three Dazzled in the first half; Onuoha and especially Perch embarrassed - appealing for offsides instead of defending; preceded both goals SanMarco added 00:47 - Feb 12 Thoroughly disappointing match. Not sure that you can blame the manager though. He picked just about the best team at his disposal; Hoedt's catastrophic error and JWP's lack of basic heading ability were not down to him. Liverpool beat Les Reed's side without even breaking sweat. That performance had relegation written all over it and it will be the complacency and incompetence of those right at the top that will have caused it. All this 'strong squad' claptrap is not reflected in the league table. Yes - the manager isn't great and he will of course be the main scapegoat but it goes deeper than that I thought Klopp showed himself up for the childish prat that he is by putting Lovren on at the end. No need for such idiocy - we'd all gone home anyway so there wasn't even anyone left to provoke... BoondockSaint added 01:26 - Feb 12 dovif added 06:40 - Feb 12 I do not know how lemina going off was a turning point. Since we were already down 2-0 and nothing in the last year has suggested that we can come back from 2-0 down. The best you can say is that it ended all hope. If there was any to begin with bigrob68 added 06:49 - Feb 12 Rustyhelmet added 08:43 - Feb 12 Pete/Larry whichever one of your logins your using at the moment, your constant scathing reports of JWP are bordering on obsessive, yeah he didnt have the greatest of matches today, but nobody did, and to say Tadic did 'good' shows what a total clueless wa*ker you are, Tadic has been nothing but sh1t for 18 months. The whole team lacked any sort of shape, any sort of drive and any sort of plan 'B'. Weak at the back, clueless through the middle and out wide and a forward that is an expensive but ineffective copy of our own academy players, led by a buffoon who is clearly out of his depth. Reed OUT, Pellegrino OUT. pete_boggs added 18:08 - Feb 12 Rusty, just ask Nick if I'm using a VPN or if I'm a multi, no problem. I don't know why you're saying that anyway as I'm not trolling other peoples threads as the multitude of multi's on here do. Anyway I'm not bordering on being obsessed with Prowsey, I AM obsessed with why we play the worst footballer in the Prem week after week. I sat with a pencil yesterday and did Prowsey's stats because it was more fun than watching Saints and it was pretty poor reading and confirmed everything I say about the useless waste of space.
