LFW Midweek Championship Preview Sunday, 23rd Nov 2008 20:17 With the dust barely settled on the R's shocking performance at Watford, we have a full midweek programme to look forward too and LFW takes a look ahead at the midweek Championship fixtures. Well, if Saturday wasn't bad enough for us R's fans, there is another round of midweek Championship fixtures to look forward too. Over the past few weeks, I have been mentioning on here that Alan Pardew's job was seriously under threat at Charlton and the weekends 5-2 home defeat at the hands of Sheffield United was the final straw and he was shown the Valley door. It just had to happen this week though didn't it, as we all know who Charlton are playing on Tuesday night...
LFW Preview of Charlton's visit to QPR will be online soon... The reason this preview is online so early is that the midweek games kick off on Monday night with a Sky game between Barnsley and Burnley at Oakwell. Looks an interesting game this one, with Barnsley going down 2-1 away at Preston at the weekend and high flying Burnley, being held at home by bottom club, Doncaster. A result that lifted Rovers off the foot of the table. Doncaster were replaced on the bottom by Forest who return there once again following a slightly unfortunate 2-1 home defeat by Norwich. The two sides meet on Tuesday night at the Keepmoat Stadium in one of the games of the night. Certainly won't be one for the purists this one. The game of the night arguably comes from Bramall Lane as Sheffield United take on runaway league leaders, Wolves in a 4th v 1st clash. Both sides are coming into the game on the back of decent wins on Saturday and Wolves will be looking for their 7th win on the bounce. Second placed Birmingham take on Ipswich at St Andrews. Another decent games comes at Ninian Park as 6th placed Cardiff take on third placed Reading. Both sides suffered 2-1 defeats on Saturday, somewhat surprisingly in Reading's case, beaten at home by struggling Southampton. Cardiff were beaten in the early kick off at Plymouth, a result that takes the Pilgrims into 7th place and level on points with the Bluebirds. As mentioned on more than one occasion on these pages, those kind people at the F.A. have been making the football supporter take quite ludicrous midweek journeys this season and it won't be the last time. This round doesn't actually look too gruelling with only really Watford and Palace fans having really awkward ones. The Hornets travel to Bristol City wheras the Eagles fans have to make their way to Carrow Road to take on Norwich. Midweek Fixtures in Full; Monday 24 November, 2008 Barnsley v Burnley
