Absolutely pathetic. Not only are we the laughing stock of The Premiership having effectively been relegated before the clocks went back but now the manager and players are participating in a Kindergarten. Honestly, are there any depths to which Sports Republic won’t let us sink ? |

Sports Republic have done nothing in the first week of the International Break. Why on earth would anybody think that they will do anything in the second ? We are to all intents and purposes we are relegated and they don’t have the money to make a change. |
| Forum Thread | Is the suggested Liverpool Cup boycott having an effect ? at 09:53 14 Nov 2024
As a season ticket holder I received an email yesterday suggesting I could purchase additional tickets for the fixture. I’m not attending in any event due to personal reasons. Out of interest I checked availability on the club’s website. There are literally thousands of tickets unsold throughout the stadium with nearly every area having massive availability.. I appreciate that the fixture is next months but was genuinely surprised at the lack of take up so far. |

Try putting it down Ifonly. I’m confident you will feel better when you’ve done so. After all, neither of us wants to be seen as one of “two bald men arguing over a comb” do we ? [Post edited 12 Nov 9:26]

Glad you’ve stuck with it dixie. To be honest, if I hadn’t contributed I would have probably given up being interested many posts ago ! My thoughts on the Liverpool Cup game ? I can’t see a boycott changing anything with Sports Republic. Then again I’m not attending due to personal reasons so it’s £30 I’ve not transferred to their coffers which is at least something to be happy about. |

Dear oh dear Ifonly, you just can’t put it down can you ? As previously stated I’m quite happy to let others form their own opinions as to what you said and or meant hence you will no doubt forgive me if I don’t respond. To do so would drag the discussion into that old expression of “ Two bald men arguing over a comb”. Put simply, it’s done and over. More importantly to me is that in your latest contribution you appear again totally unable to take any notice whatsoever of my friendly advice reference your undoubted frustrations when people don’t agree with you. There really is no mileage to be gained in insults ( either implied or stated ) as a way to converting others to your point of view. Some people understand this early in life, for others unfortunately it takes longer. |

Time spent conclusively proving that you did say something that you later so vehemently denied is not time wasted Ifonly. A less kind hearted person than myself may well say that you lied. Personally I’m happy to suggest that you were perhaps just economical with the truth. Reference context. What you actually said was “ people shouldn’t expect a comfy room down the road from their children who refuse to take them in. If the available space is in Scotland then that’s where they should go.” Sounds to me pretty much like being compulsorily sent to another country because they can’t self fund, but I’m quite happy to let others form their own opinion as to what you meant. On a more general note and perhaps something that may ease your obvious frustrations when your views are disagreeing with. My life’s experiences have taught me that if you want someone to change their point of view it’s far better to try and persuade them. Reverting to insults (implied or otherwise) which are the product of one’s own frustration is rarely, if ever, a successful route to journey down. To end on the subject of The Saints. I’ve been out for most of the day and haven’t heard of any sacking action by our Owners so another day passes with there being no change ? |

No I did not say that ! So Ifonly, it wasn’t you who said whilst discussing THE BUDGET @ 14.44 on November 1 2024 ? “ If the available space is in Scotland then that’s where they should go”. Perhaps an imposter then. Interesting theory I’ll give you that. [Post edited 11 Nov 13:26]

Ifonly, I sense from the tone and wordings of your last two responses that you are getting a little frustrated that I don’t subscribe to your “ interesting theories”. Please forgive me for being sceptical.Perhaps my judgement may have been somewhat coloured by some of your theories put forward when discussing previous topics. I can’t remember which topic in particular but was it not yourself who suggested that all UK old people who were unable to self fund their own latter years care should be compulsorily sent to Scotland ? For you then nothing changes, Ankerson and Martin stay because it’s not now just “Complex” but there will be “ repercussions”. If nothing else, just another of your interesting theories Ifonly. |
| Forum Reply | Enough at 18:54 10 Nov 2024
So you appear to be suggesting on the one hand that Dragan has the money to fund a successful Premiership team but on the other hand he can’t sack an underperforming minority share holder ( Ankerson ) or the club coach ( Martin ) because it’s too “ complex”. If nothing else an interesting theory. As I’ve previously suggested in my opinion our current problems emulate from one or even both of :- A) Dragan and the Club generally are plotless. B ) Dragan and the Club generally are quite happy at our current direction of travel which is back to The Championship. Pays your money and takes your choice comes to mind. |
| Forum Reply | Enough at 13:52 10 Nov 2024
Simply question Ifonly :- If as you suggest, Sports Republic do have the financial ability then why haven’t they already dispensed with the services of Ankerson and Martin? After all, if you and many others can see the problem why have Sports Republic fallen short so far ? Could it be that they are quite happy and don’t want to change our current situation or our direction of travel back to The Championship ? [Post edited 10 Nov 13:55]

dixiefrog, doesn’t it occur to you that your wishes and those of Sports Republic are diametrically opposite ? You and thousands of others ( including myself ) want to support a team which is competitive in the Premiership season after season. Sports Republic don’t have the financial or management ability to achieve what we want, hence our being relegated two seasons ago together with our current league position. All current evidence suggests that Sports Republic are quite happy with us as a Championship to Premiership yo-yo club with a second string in Turkey. Admirable though your suggestion is, Sports Republic aren’t going to change simply because they don’t want to. I’m afraid it’s time to face facts. We are already relegated and there is nothing Russell Martin or any other manager can do about it. By all means boycott games if you wish, unfortunately it won’t make any difference whatsoever. |
| Forum Reply | We will have 4 points at Xmas at 23:09 9 Nov 2024
They won’t “ lose the fans”. We have been absolute pants this season since the very first defeat at Newcastle yet every home game is pretty much a sell out as were some of the games in The Championship last season. Most fans want to see us play in a league where we are at least competitive and win a few games without interference from V A R. The fans didn’t desert the club when we relegated from the Premiership before and they won’t again when we go down this time. |
| Forum Reply | We will have 4 points at Xmas at 22:52 9 Nov 2024
It doesn’t matter because we are already relegated. Why will Sports Republic want to waste money they haven’t got sacking and replacing him ? They are a business ( agreed not a very good one ) and there is absolutely no upside whatsoever for them in dismissing Martin. [Post edited 9 Nov 22:54]

| Forum Thread | After today all over bar the shouting, but 10 reasons to be cheerful. at 17:19 9 Nov 2024
1. Relegation all but assured, so we can now prepare early for The Championship next August. 2. Championship ticket prices won’t go up and may well come down. 3. More games to watch in The Championship. 4. No V A R in The Championship. 5. Sports Republic don’t need to waste any more money in the January window because we already have a Championship team. 6. Sports Republic can sell our few decent players to help balance the books. 7. Sports Republic can look forward to their second set of parachute payments in just three seasons. 8. In The Championship we may well win more than the odd one game in eleven.. 9. Fair chance of a couple of local derbies. 10. I can’t think of anything else. An all round win situation for both us fans and Sports Republic, what’s not to like ? [Post edited 9 Nov 18:36]

We won’t and he won’t. Sports Republic have made some very stupid decisions since they became our owners but even they aren’t totally insane. To all intents and purposes we are already relegated and defeat at Wolves would only further confirm this. Why then would Sports Republic wish to spend further millions sacking Martin together with the cost of replacing him ? Put simply there’s no upside for them in such a decision. On the other hand we win and we soldier on at no additional cost to Sport Republic whatsoever. Russell Martin will be sacked because at some point in time all managers are but it’s very unlikely to take place on Monday. |
