| Your Report | Southampton v Chelsea Your Report added at 11:53:51 Well, I like RM- and want him to stay- seems a decent bloke But I just cannot see a way forward for him. That was embarrassing- and it would be hard enough to win ANY game in the league , without the mistakes every week. My feeling is he is just too nice. I don't feel anyone who produces one of these howlers worries what the gaffer thinks. It's all high fives and love. I think that is exactly hat we needed when he arrived and the dressing room was all over the place- but there comes a point where a performance like that - (coming after identical mistakes the last home game ) are unacceptable. I am comfortable with the idea we are probably we weakest squad in the league, and 17th was always a tough ask- but I want to see a bit more pragmatism- sometimes it got to go long. This was the first week I though Russel is not going to survive-but if thats the case- it has to be now. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Liverpool Your Report added at 22:03:30 Frustrating! AM is not great with the ball at his feet, so why not adapt and ask the midfield to be ready for more longer balls? Were playing a big club, they will be hard to break down, so play over the top SOMETIMES I thought we also played some good stuff, and the support was great too. Its going to be tough this year, but when you see a team trying hardbacks against the wall, theres something to cheer about. Tall Paul could be find after all, but that injury looked bad, he went straight down. |
| Your Report | Birmingham City v Southampton Your Report added at 22:08:25 Great result, with LOTS to work on. Teams have worked us out, press the keeper and centre backs and you'll get chances. One the VERY rare occasions we went long, we won a couple of knock downs and attacked. We have to change things up and keep teams guessing. Lots of hard work though, kept working for each other. I though Stu and Brooks were very good, and Will Smallbone battled well I think Bree must start if he's fit now. COYR |
| Your Report | Liverpool v Southampton Your Report added at 22:24:53 Bloody hell doom mongers! We were really good! We just went to Liverpool, and gave them a really good game. The scoreline doesn't reflect the work rate and efforts. On another day (like the 25 other games we managed to) we score and its a very different game Sure, there was a lot of teenagers on the pitch, but they were superb too. I though Aribo was everywhere, and so strong, and Che Charles has made a case for Saturday. Not sure what the anti Martin brigade were watching last year- but they weren't watching Saints, thats for sure. Ihope we take heart from this performance , much more direct through the wings, much more pace, and take on Brummie's in the same way. COYR! |
| Your Report | Southampton v Hull City Your Report added at 09:51:40 Firstly, you have to congratulate Hull, who were excellent all night. They worked so hard off the ball, closing down spaces. They were clever, they refused to drop back, meaning there was no room in mid field, with so many of our passes being run down. Bazuno's distribution was poor, too many hospital passes at speed into the centre of midfield. The defence were ambling back, disjointed, and not covering gaps. Flyn Downes has been a huge miss. There is just a lack of cohesion without him. I feel like teams are working us out, and we need a few options. I few tired legs out there too. I think Aribo could do with a little run starting, he has looked really hungry, and holds the ball up well. I hope we can turn it around-my heart can't take the playoffs! COYR! |
| Your Report | Southampton v Sheffield Wednesday Your Report added at 23:20:49 Our strongest performance to date this season. KWP was a class above today Loved the way we played at a faster temp, and ran them into the ground. Some of the interchanging passes were breathtaking. Real entertainment, with a team that really looks like a team. I said to my boy, we could real in Leicester - I really think we could, but I'm not greedy- just entertain me like that and I'll be happy. COYR! |
| Your Report | Leeds United v Southampton Your Report added at 09:13:44 For such a young team, we lack pace, and energy. You cant really blame the manager for that. Leeds were bang average, and a pressing aggression would have had them feeling the pressure, but we played into their hands. I feel Bazuna needs a rest, he's just struggling to dominate his box, and the results feel like they are affecting his confidence, not sure id Mcarthy is available, but I think even Willy now. Lavia looked good, but he was doing too much on his own. At one point Tall Paul was our furthest forward player and he was just outside our box. He's way off PL pace, but thats to be expected. I think RS tried to set us up to not lose, and instead played into their hands. KWPlooked bright. We all know we are the poorest team in the league, and we are where we should be. All you can do it trying build some togetherness and hope we can pull off half a dozen shock wins! RS is the man to do that. But I think we will go down. The only chink is that theres a lot of dross down there with us |
