10,174 for a league cup game v York
at 17:12 26 Aug 2015

Yeah, it's always fun. Beautiful stadium, I'd sell my right bollock to see us in such a place (we are getting a rather nice new stadium, but nothing like yours).

Miserable stewards, however. But we all suffer from that.

It's way behind the likes of Luton, Portsmouth, even Oxford. But it's annoyed me that we can take 4,500 to Bolton and Stoke - with it being the FA Cup and a Saturday - and not even take 10 percent of that to Swansea who are a bigger club than both of the aforementioned.

406 apparently. Lack of interest on both our parts it seems. We averaged 709 away through last season.

Swansea City v York CIty - Official Match Thread
at 23:58 25 Aug 2015

Oh well. Not too down as we had a go (well, in the first half, and after a terrible start). Would have been nice to get back level via one of those chances, but the second goal was always going to kill it. Not a lot more to add as we've been sampling your alcoholic outlets and don't want to dribble all over your forum :D All nice and friendly with the Swansea support out and about, as it should be.

All the best for the rest of the season. We've got Mansfield, you've got Man U. If you ever get young uns complaining about things, tell them to thank their lucky stars they support a decent Premiership side in a very nice stadium. Not all of us can say that....

How much will we win by tomorrow

All right, per the above. Penn is pretty good at this level however.

The youngster Reece Thompson. Beat off Bradford to sign him. Looks very promising indeed and has a great attitude. The manager claims he may not risk him......because our manager is crap.

You'll see a common theme per what we think of our manager.

We've got a very good keeper in Scott Flinders. Errrr....Josh Carson is good, but won't be playing. Coulson is excellent, but is injured.

It's going to be messy tomorrow. We really are just saving money until we move to our new stadium where we can start spending.

Heh. You'd think your lot would have a bit of pity at 10-0? ;)

York Boss Coming With No Fear
at 20:11 24 Aug 2015

Na, it's our terrible manager making a reference to how he said he would have no idea what formation Exeter would put out ahead of that game. He's basically saying he doesn't know what team Swansea will put out either (like before Exeter. Not a comparison). That's all.

Best not to listen to him. He makes me depressed just looking at him.

We Will Breeze Past York Won't We?
at 14:14 24 Aug 2015

Yes, basically.

But to expand on that...you are a Premiership side. You're a very good Premiership side. You've got a great stadium and when I do watch Premiership matches, I find your club far more exciting than the likes of Villa, Spurs and such.

Anyone outside the Premiership would be arrogant to say this wasn't a big game for them, and would be insulting in the process. And we're Divison Two.

There's a few caveats in that we had hoped for somewhere easier to travel (being a Tuesday night) - such as we took (and sold out) the 4,500 allocation and more boring clubs (away to Bolton and Stoke) in the recent third round FA Cup games, but I doubt we'll bring 500 to this one - that's a downer.

Also, some of us older fans remember when we were in the same division not so many moons ago, so that takes a bit of shine of it, but I personally keep thinking back to my original point of who you are now.

Also, we spent a few years in the utter direness of the Conference (due to dodgy chairmen nearly killing the club). One has to experience Alfreton and Histon away, where your away support is more than their home support and the ground is proper pub league stuff. Beating Luton at Wembley in front of 50,000 was an experience that made up for it, but yeah....taking everything into account, it wasn't a second's thought on getting the train booked for this one.

Yeah, amazingly we're going to be playing a number of reserves according to the manager, claiming the long away trips and lots of games lately has resulted in key players getting fatigued (based on the 0-0 at Exeter) and the concentration on Mansfield next Saturday.

Could be kidology, but knowing this f-ing useless manager it's probably not. So this is going to be awkward on Tuesday and somewhat insulting to those of us spending 200 quid for this game.

What's your record win? Vs. York City on August 25, 2015 may become it.

50 quid on the coaches. 120 quid on the train....it's not the competition for us, it's playing a Premiership club. But yeah, the more you get in, the more of a pay day it'll be - which is what clubs in our league think about while getting the runaround by a Premiership club's reserves ;)

Just a shame it's not on a weekend.

12 quid a ticket is a great move by your club.

Don't know how much you charge for getting into Premiership matches, but we're 18 quid to stand at BC.

Great start to the season for your lot! (Not so much for us, but we're playing really well, just unlucky as hell on Saturday).

Alright Jack. Yeah - Monks Cross in the east of the city, but the west of the shopping centre there, so still walking distance for a large part of York. Will seriously miss Bootham Crescent, but it's falling down and you can't make money without all those "revenue streams" that come with a new stadium.

Won't be anything like your new gaff, but it'll take us forward in the same way it helped Chesterfield and Rotherham (as examples of what we think we could aim for).

Thanks for this - and also to Jack further up the thread.

Sadly it looks like we're only going to be bringing 500 or so to this, which is embarrassing considering we took 4,500 to the last two away games against Premiership clubs (FA Cup). Too many people got over excited about getting one of the London clubs, or Newcastle (easy to get to), etc.....or a big home game, given we're moving to a £40m stadium next year and want to see the ground get a send off. Plus it's an overnighter.

Hasn't put me off. Really like what you've done with the club since the dark days of us both playing out a dull as heck 0-0 at Vetch Field. We're hoping we can do a much smaller but positive transition when we move into our new stadium.

Now then Swans. It's been a long time! Last one was a trip to the Vetch.

This time it'll be to sample your fancy new stadium while watching us get a dry bumming by your reserves, but it has to be done. 5 and a half hour train ride, so an overnighter on the cards. Any hotels near the stadium?
