| News Comment | Southampton V Liverpool The Verdict at 12:19:32
3 gifts and it isn't Christmas for another 4 weeks. McCvnty needs to start diving on the ball and staying down for a bit, like FF used to do. Calms everyone down a bit and wastes time. Far too much fannying around in danger areas again and against a team like Liverpool, it was only a matter of time. If in doubt, hoof it out FFS. Downes in the centre played Salah on for their 2nd, but McCvnty was badly at fault. It was a pen. Sugawara inexplicably moved his hand to the ball. Scores too early to go 2-1 up. Thought it was a pen when A Arm got poleaxed by their keeper - we can have Saints potentially going 3-1 up against the top of the league and media darlings, so let's give a foul against Saints. Hopefully this battling performance will now make us play a lot more directly and move the ball forward more quickly. I doubt it though. |

He may as well join us on a nice cheap deal over the summer. Let's face it, he won't get back in the Newcastle side with Howe in charge and anyway they have £40m Anthony Gordon and countless other Internationals to take his place. |

Great day out that 2017 game. Won 1-0 with a rare Clasie goal, then back to the Vine pub on the industrial estate, to watch the Grand National. Was on the winner One For Arthur (Grandad's name) and also on 3rd placed Saint Are (obviously !!). |
| News Comment | Southampton V Stoke City The Preview at 13:32:07
Fraser had the confidence, life and everything else kicked out of him against Millwall - their game plan was purely to target Fraser and after 4 bad fouls on him, he was forced off injured and hasn't been the same since. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Preston North End The Verdict at 15:16:17
Everyone would have taken a 3-0 win before the game, but the fact that we were 3-0 up after just over 30 mins made it a little bit of an anticlimax in the 2nd half. We all wanted (and expected) more goals to help our goal difference deficit v the Top 3, but despite a few chances, it wasn't to be and no Hat Trick for Che. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Blackburn The Preview at 14:05:11
Your opinion reminds me of Spurs fans after they finished 3rd in a 2 horse race. The title was within their grasp, they missed out on 2nd place to Arsenal but still claimed it was a great season to finish 3rd and get Champions League, as they didn't expect it at the start of the season. We had an automatic place in our own hands not that long ago, but our form over the last 7 games or so has cost us. Sure many expected the play offs (some worse) and that is what will we probably end up with, but it could have been so much more. |

Harsh on Saints players to have 3 goals given as own goals. Vergini - fair enough, superb finish from the edge of the box :-) Bridcutt - Should have been given to Pelle and would have been his hat trick - was going in anyway, but I see why they gave it as an OG van Aanholt - Mane's goal for sure. Yes PvA got the deflection but it was still on target before he deflected it. |

Keep Bed and THB as CB pairing Bree if no KWP If Manning plays, put him wide left back - not central - and makensure he marks his man. We have options in CM and up top, so I don't think scoring will be a problem. Just keep it tight at the back, stop fannying around with it, cut out the kamikaze passing and hoof it if you have to !! Clean sheet please !! Cheers, Brooks and Arm to score. |

Downes is a must if fit. He was missed big time in CM. Also recall S Arm. At Bristol, with Edozie and Brooks, we were too lightweight on the wings, so Fraser and A Arm to return to the flanks and Che down the middle if fit. |

Drove to the 1-0 win in 2017 with Clasie scoring. Parked by the excellent Vyne pub (free street parking) Great choice of food and drink - highly recommended (but been a while !!) Back in to watch the Grand National after the game Saint Are (25-1) got a place !! Went to the 2 weeks apart league and cup wins a year later by train Great selection of pubs in Birmingham city centre between New Street station and Snow Hill. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Watford The FA Cup Replay Verdict at 00:29:43
Mara was worst player on the pitch in the first half. Apart from setting up Adams, he did nothing but give the ball away, mis-pass or mis-control, slow up our break away attacks and when the goal was gaping on 30 mins, instead of shooting with his left foot, he cut inside to get it on his right and was tackled. Fair play though, he was a different player 2nd half, took his goals well including the first with his left foot and maybe should have had a hat trick - curling 1 just wide and unselfishly passing when in a decent position to shoot himself. Great to see all the youngsters play and contribute - a lot more than they did at Vicarage Road. Lots of intricate passing between them too, just a shame the woodwork prevented a real drubbing. |
| News Comment | A Rough Guide To Rotherham at 14:25:24
I went to that FA Cup game at Millmoor. The Saturday game was called off because of a frozen pitch and as a result, 2 of us had to take an afternoon off and drive up. We went with a Rotherham fan we knew from the pub - which made it interesting going into some working mans club with him before the game, but made the journey home a very long one !! We didn't adapt to the conditions or their tactics and we lost 2-1, despite having about 7 or 8 internationals in our squad. |
