Agreed. In a perverse sort of way, all the injuries we have suffered might stand to us in the long run. We always knew the new players would need time to bed in and no doubt Marti was planning on doing that incrementally. That fact that he was forced to throw the majority in ' at the deep end' obviously has led to some disastrous results, but has also given these players vital Championship experience. They have had to literally 'learn on the job' and this could ultimately benefit the whole squad in the second half of the season when we have (hopefully) everyone fit. The most important thing was that we did not get cut adrift at the bottom and 5 points this week have ensured that did not happen. Still a lot to do, but much happier than this time last week |

Festy is a decent player, although still surprisingly raw considering the amount of games he has played. More of a replacement for Chedoze than Coleman/Doherty I suspect Let's hope we can keep him quiet today if he is on the left he will want to cut in for a shot on goal. You would imagine Dunne would be quite familiar with him [Post edited 30 Nov 11:24]

Illy and Willi at their best were unplayable at this level - but it was a very brief window. |

I didn't see that to be honest. With only a couple of minutes to go, he was taking the piss out of two Cardiff players down by their corner flag - must have wasted a full minute at least and it was still only 1-0 at the time |

Not disputing that areas of Celar's game needs work- not least his hold up play (although tbf that's not his natural game). What I said was his best game in a QPR shirt which I think is indisputable. My real point though it was the wrong thread to be having a dig at him |

A good strike but straight at Nardi. I've have backed him to tip it over form he's in |

That's a poor comment No need to use a Willock thread to dig out Celar after his best game in a QPR shirt. The first goal was pure strikers instinct, a class strike that Clive Allen or Charlie Austin would be proud of. And for his second, how often have you seen a team completely dominate another only to get caught with a sucker punch on the break right at the death?- not a defensive lapse imo. Also Celar took it superbly, real composure and no little skill. |

Nardi has been very good all season, but tonight he was first class, especially after getting a belt in the gob in the first few minutes. But we have been on the wrong end of outstanding goalkeeping on two or three occasions this season, so nice to come out the right side of it. But as others have said, needs to be a platform we can build on, cos we are still deep in the brown stuff. |

That we are even considering digging Cook out, it symptomatic of the dark place we are all in football wise at the moment. That's understandable given our position and form. I think we are finding it even harder to come to terms with, as we were all so hopeful of a 'decent' (north of 16th) season. At the beginning of last season we knew we were in trouble before a ball was kicked, so we were calmer about it - this season feel more like a kick in the whatsits. But to single out Cook is very harsh imo. He NEVER misses a game (unlike his defensive partner), ALWAYS gives 100%. You talk about the goal V Leeds, I wonder how many goals he has prevented this season - not far behind Nardi I would suggest. He is also Mr Consistent, rarely, if ever, dropping below a 6/10. Of course he could do more, but he is a long way down the list of reasons why we are bottom of the table. |

TBF his goal v Luton showed great awareness, desire and no little composure. Maybe stick him on the wing as he was for that goal. Anywhere he doesn't have to tackle and can use his undoubted technical skills. |

Stick him up front. 6'5". Technically good. Doesn't have to tackle. Might win a pen or two (which he IS good at taking) Can't be any worse than Celar. Might be the next Crouchy. |

My understanding of it (which could be completely wrong) is that it is okay if they go straight through the Championship into the Prem (or indeed they may have two years if the FFP is a 3 year cycle?). So if Birmingham get promoted, expect them to throw bucket loads more cash at it next season and distort the price of Championship strikers even further (but we might get Dykes back on the cheap). |

Not disputing any of the points you are making. But how then can we reconcile that with the lung-busting run he made to be on the end of Frey's dispossession and lay off v Luton. That came from a long punt forward and he was playing as a left winger at the time? He looked decent that night - where has that player gone? |
