Quite. Maybe it was all taken out of context, but what a load of whining and blame shifting. Hardly a surprise it was a tough task but we still had some decent players, most of whom watched the ball fly 10 miles over their heads most of the games.

1. Dunne

Enjoying the votes for Saito and Edwards on this board. Never ceases to surprise.

Anyone got a best guess when they may go on sale? I am presuming even with our dwindling form and it being a Weds night, it still might be popular. Not sure of the allocation there, either?

I totally get your sentiments and that generally of this thread, but I can't relate to it.

I rarely give a stuff about any player once they leave us, for whatever reason really. Perhaps only Eze the exception, and Macca of course, and the sell on got quite a lot to do with that.

But surely we didn't "cash in" on Armstrong without his consent? I know I am gullible to these things, but didn't he refuse to sign a new contract?

So yes, our offer may have been 10p and a packet of Chewits, but I don't care.

He ain't in the blue and white hoops anymore so up yours is my simplistic view.

But also, why on earth would we clap him? I don't get that at all. He has lots of talent but played like a complete arse most of the time and when he did score embarrassed us all with his celebrations. He may have scored at Leicester to put us 2-0 up but his ridiculous celebrations only served to stoke up the long-dead home crowd.

I see very little to clap the man about? I cheered him to the rafters when he was ours, I enjoyed his running about, I believed he would come good.....then he left. Bye.

Wise words, totally agree really on stoking him up.

But clapping him? For what?! Even though I really had high hopes for him, even I had to admit he didn't achieve much.

Personally I shall do the wrong thing, which will be doing the requisite hand signals....when he outpaces our back 4 and sticks it in the net down the loft end and bares his arse to us all.

I feel very let down by Armstrong, obviously I have no idea if we ever offered him a deal of any decency but I suspect we did.

We nurtured him, gave him great support, why not just sign the contract and if you end up being the new Eze you get your move anyway.

Right or wrong, am looking forward to putting my point across to him in April at Loftus Road.

Liverpool Newcastle Cup Final

Said it many times but the modern commentators are awful. It's the action we remember, not your reams of learned lines and pseudo psycho babble you waffle on about in order (as you say) to try and get remembered. Drury is insufferable and Matterface dire.

The radio guys, by contrast. are old school and magnificent. So good on 5 live.

And a mention for John Hunt's commentary on Gold Cup day - also brilliant, but obviously for so many more reasons than just the sport. How he carries on, I have no idea.

Agreed. It's bizarre how a couple of dodgy games post injury seems to mean he has to be written off. These days players can go on a lot longer and the guy, in my opinion, has been superb for us and I still wish we had managed to get him under Warbs that season.

New contract please, Mr ManChild, and quickly.

Apart from not scoring a header with the last chance, that is. In related news, didn't realise Seny was dropped, or is he injured?

Knackered? Thank god we rested our superstars for the cup then. So glad it is going to pay off in our spiral towards 20th.

I might love the nags but I am the worst punter in the entire world so will keep my counsel.

All I hope is that the odds on shots can be turned over, it is in real danger of boring us all into submission. No-one cares if they are Irish or English, just having short price favourites has never really been what Cheltenham is about.

I've know keen horse racing fans, for all their lives, who have never been less enthusiastic about jumps racing and the sport really does feel at a low ebb. Needs a big (and safe for the horses) Cheltenham. where the big fields and crowds can remind us what the sport is really about.

It's been said many times but for the club to go into the season praying that Celar would be good and Frey would stay fit was just negligence. As disappointing as we have been today, it is still worth remembering Marti has almost kept us up already with so little up front.

I think there is more to it than that. I am with you as a win-at-all-costs kinda guy, but I still feel long-term we have an issue where we have this cycle of starting the season badly, get some loans in, improve, do better, lose the loans, start badly.....

How do we break the cycle? Better loans?

We only need a few more points to stay up, then it really is all about next season for me. Many people don't care about the FA Cup - well I couldn't care about our league position if it is between 7th and one place above relegation. So let's see some planning for next season now so that we get a decent start. Then maybe our January loans can be for a promotion push instead.

I don't see how playing Edwards and Yang helps us in that regard.

yes, but one we have every chance of buying. Isn't that the key difference? In the team of loan players selected above in this thread, I believe the vast majority ended up being bought and even in Wells' case we probably had some sort of chance of buying him.

I guess from the club's point of view we will never get another humdinger like Kyle Walker unless we do clubs like Spurs a favour now and again.

Never any objection to loans that clearly have an intention to buy, like Austin and Johansen. I've always hated big boy loans as it smacks of us being small fry and kowtowing to clubs we used to regularly beat. But I know the Championship has changed and I expect nearly every promoted club has had successful loans recently.

I just about got Edwards because of our centre back crisis. I do not enjoy the fact we are improving him now for Soton, or that Morrison is being denied minutes.

Yang, unless as a result we get him for the whole of next season or some other Spurs striker starlet, I was against from the second it was mooted. Just the sort of loan I can't stand. Never going to sign. I know we all want to win games with the best possible side, but is it going to cause us to have yet another slow start next year because we've knocked our own players out of contention this?

Agree, Dave, actually putting me off going to the away games or making sure I get there an hour early to claim seat. I really thing the club needs to do something about it. You buy a seat, you sit there. Sure, move about if you are not annoying anyone else, but don't shove people out of their paid for seats. Luton in particular was awful, and dangerous, I thought.
