Well we're 11 points clear of relegation and the same amount behind the play offs so mid table looks more ^ more likely for us. Simpson was involved in a couple of our attacks so hopefully he'll gain more confidence.
Yes he seems to have really got his act together in the last few years. I'd like to see him finally come good in the EFL (though not against us). I reckon this week will be interesting for us in terms of signings and who we bring in - we always seem to move players our before bringing in new ones.
Kabamba played for us years ago on loan but scored no goals. Could be a bit of a gamble for them tbh as he scores for fun in the NL but his goal scoring record when he has played in the EFL has not been good so far. Though that could change if he can continue his form that he did at Barnet.
Thats probably what JT needs, to drop down a league to where he previously discovered his goal scoring form.
As for us, according to RB who posts in Colchester gazette (who is often a good source of information through his research) we've been linked with a move for Daniel Ogunleye from Brentwood who scored 23 goals for them though there is a difference between Isthmian league north and League two. But he could be a shrewd signing if he can continue his goalscoring form as he definitely has an eye for goal and isn't shot shy..
OK forgetting JT though I think the rest of the Luton team are probably unsettled too with their current position considering they were in the PL last season.
Who could potentially be a good fit for our team that we can likely afford?
According to transfermarkt he's worth £350k so Luton would never get anything like that sort of transfer figure for him. As that is the sort money a championship club would pay in a transfer fee and no club in that league would pay that for a striker who has scored no goals in a season.
And if he is released as may be the case depending on how long his contract has left to run then I imagine he would likely leave on a free. Then its just the wages to be sorted and agreed depending on who goes for him.
Agreed its unlikely he would join us but sometimes players have to go down 1 or 2 leagues to find their true level.
I do agree however that we need LT back sooner rather than later though as he is a much more reliable goal scorer than Hopper could ever dream to be.
0 goals in 9 appearances for Luton this season but he did way better when playing for us & Lincoln. Perhaps its time for us to try him again to rediscover his form.
I must admit that I was a bit baffled as to why Wilkinson was moved on & Jay & Hopper remained at the club when really the latter 2 should have moved on and we would have had the opportunity to bring another reasonably good striker in. The club really needs to look at the high earners and how much of a role they've played in their positions to see if it warrants them staying at the club in this transfer and and more specifically this summer when Jay's & Hoppers contracts are up.
Sadly summer signings can go wrong just like they can in January. The fact is all clubs (not just us) can make good and bad signings in both transfer windows though I would class the summer for more permanent signings and January more to fill gaps and sign permanent players in if summer transfers have gone wrong.
If LT & ST are both out for a while then we are really going to have to go for another striker or 2 then perhaps loan out or mutually agree to release the likes of Jay.
Luckily the FA cup has cut us a break this time to regroup and potentially sort out incomings & outgoings.
