Transfer rumours 2024

We've just handed Madsen a 5 year contract so I think it highly unlikely but you never know this transfer window has seen some crazy deals.

Celar
at 08:31 28 Aug 2024

Well I downvoted the OP from the train on the way home, I didn't have time to start posting last night, as for Stainrod he has upset so many people over time with his cutting remarks that from a previous post on here there's a list of people with him on ignore.

We spent a lot of time watching Celar in particular last night, he had a good game in a number of aspects, battling against big centre halves bigger than him, winning some duels and headers, holding up the ball at times, trying to link play, a very intelligent pass to Dixon-Bonner which led to the goal. What we didn't give him was much support because if he did win the ball there was nobody near him to link up play, considering the lack of minutes he has had since he arrived at the club this was his first full 90 and he should be pleased with his performance.

The need for somebody to post at 09:17 last night saying he's not good enough is almost beyond belief, presumably watching from home on a screen if you have that much time on your hands to go out of your way to criticise one of the new players. As people have already posted at least give the bloke a chance, he showed some movement and anticipation last night as well something that's been missing since probably Austin and I don't mean the last version of Charlie either.

Dykes sold apparently
at 08:56 26 Aug 2024

Have to agree with Gazza the coach has to be the one who decides what positions he needs players in and just as importantly which players are not good enough and can be released.

Surely it's down to the Analytics team to find the players in the positions needed and put them before the coach for his input and to discuss with the CEO whether they are suitable and that we can afford them. I struggle to believe that we are purely relying on a 27 year old CEO with very little experience to build a squad to be competitive in the Championship, maybe we are but that's a massive gamble.

It was generally believed on here that it was Cifuentes who decided that he didn't want Dozzell any more as he played him a few times before dropping him and we then loaned him out. If we want to keep Cifuentes then he has to have input on players, it wasn't Nourry who kept us in the Championship last season and if we isolate the coach from all recruitment decisions he is very likely to leave the club.

We all know how precarious the finances are at the club and that I get the impression that Cifuentes has bought into the fact we have to sell players to survive but to then cut him off from all recruitment decisions as well is asking for a very unhappy man, the fact is none of us know for sure because the CEO is not giving an interview and probably preventing the manager from doing the same.

That's probably a lot closer to the truth than the Internet journalist who posted 3.75 million Euros, we have to wait a long time to know the truth, may not be till the accounts are published

Some excellent posts on the thread in support its actually good to hear from people who have sadly been through cancer diagnosis, it helps trying to find some perspective as to how you feel internally.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the end of last year, it certainly comes as a massive shock and coming to terms with the news takes a while. Fortunately if cancer diagnosis is caught early then the treatments that are available today can be a game changer, it can be a long road but don't ever give up the fight.

Briefly with prostate cancer there are two main treatments radiotherapy and prostatectomy these are routinely offered on the NHS, I initially chose the radiotherapy. My wife immediately got on the case looking at the Internet and discovered Focal therapy which is only offered at two Hospitals in the UK on the NHS, after reading about the various side effects with all treatments I asked for a referral to UCLH for Focal therapy. Having started the route of radiotherapy I got an approval from UCLH for Focal therapy, this is approved by a team of consultants it depends on the diagnosis my diagnosis was intermediate if it had been advanced it would have been rejected.
I had the Focal operation in April , a catheter for 1 week , it meant I missed the bloody Leeds game really pissed off with that, a week later another MRI scan and then a week later 10 days in Majorca chilling out.....

There was obviously more involved but that's the bullet points so to speak, I have to say at the start I spent the first 3/4 weeks a bit in denial but then read all the McMillan book they had given me to try and make a decision. There is a danger of information overload if you start googling but without that we wouldn't have found the Focal therapy option because it wasn't being offered to me at Hiilingdon Hospital. That said I totally agree with Boston try to steer clear of googling too much, the people at McMillan are a godsend if you need support or information.

Three months later the diagnosis is so far good results, you know with cancer though that it can always come back so it does mess with your head, best advice keep positive you can beat your diagnosis for sure and I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow.....

Best wishes and good luck with your treatment , the reason for posting the above is it may be of help for the next person who gets diagnosed and reads the forum....

I wouldn't wish this on Eze for one minute he's a great lad but that bunch called Man United are crying out for some real class in his position, truly surprised there not sniffing around...

Transfer rumours 2024
at 12:40 21 Aug 2024

There we go some bloke posts on the Internet the fee for the Dane and it's now gospel / speculated that we are paying £3.2 million, I don't believe that for one minute is he rated that good to even warrant that sort of a fee.
The figure of 3.75 mllion Euros could be the total amount for his transfer fee and wages because let's face it nobody knows.

I agree with Rbee we were told nothing was happening in January so it was a surprise that we got 4 players, suddenly we had something resembling a squad it was exactly what Marti needed.

Agreed I posted last night that I thought it highly unlikely we are paying 3.75 million Euros even allowing for the fact that the fee is staggered over the length of the contract.

What could be possible is that the fee plus wages over the length of contract adds up to 3.75 million Euros, which is closer to the market we can afford.

Does anybody genuinely think we are paying 3.75 million Euros for a player in this transfer window, after all the discussions we have had about FFP it seems highly unlikely....

Kolli online abuse

Les makes the point they only use the phone to communicate with friends, well if they only used Whatsapp they wouldn't have a problem it's end to end encrypted, that stops other people from accessing your data.

Surely the problem is they all go on Facebook and X because their friends use those platforms and that's where the trolls are hiding, as Nix correctly points out its very much a generational thing and the players join those platforms because their friends use them, it's very much FOMO for them.

Now I'm an old fogey I've never used Facebook or X and have no desire to use them, that said I absolutely love my Smart phone and like you would be lost without Whatsapp or a similar end to end encrypted messaging platform.....

If the players want to steer clear of the garbage it's in their own hands but I can remember back to my teens and twenties and I'm sure I would end up being in the I don't want to miss out on what my friends were doing gang.

Jimmy Dunne
at 08:06 18 Jul 2024

I'm hoping Jimmy plays a lot of games he brings a lot of qualities to the team, his move to right back was incredibly successful and there's no reason he can't start the season in the same position.

He adapted really well to the position which can't be said for all centre backs, it gave us another player who is dominant in the air at set pieces taking a bit of pressure off Cook and JCS. He provided an out ball for Begovic which was needed but having moved Begovic on that's still a good option to have if Nardi or Walsh are struggling for options when teams make the high press.

His strength in posession is important, too many full backs get shoved off the ball far too easily, the more he played in the position the more confident he got with pushing forward which these days is important.

Just like Dan Burn at Newcastle it is possible to convert to full back, versatility is important to have in any squad, I'm pleased to watch his interviews and see his enthusiasm after so many of our players just wanting to jump ship at the first opportunity.

No I'm not Jimmy Dunne in disguise....

True - Amazed you missed Martis most important decision getting rid of Dozzell, it was getting to the stage that I thought it would never happen and dreading seeing his name on the team sheet.

If you want to be successful there is no room for excessive sentiment, a manager has to be ruthless when building a team and if a player doesn't fit the playing style then they have to be moved on.

Where exactly are Cardiff getting all their money from, they signed a lot of players last Summer including giving a ridiculously expensive contract to Ramsey who is forever injured.
I havnt noticed them making a big sale in the last couple of years, surely they are pushing FFP to the limits....

Cardiff that surely screams, gone to the highest bidder, presumably he's getting a signing on fee and probably a slightly better wage.

I had Cardiff down last season as one of the clubs that could get into Financial difficulty, would be interesting to know the state of their finances, does that mean Josh Bowler is back at the Florists he was on loan there last year, possibly worth an enquiry.
