How can people say Stevens was MOTM? Did everyone fail to notice that he gave the ball away in a bad area which lead to the first goal (free kick which turned into a corner kick)? He had a better game outside of that bad mistake, but he isn't a solid central defender and he is too weak. I think yoshida is a good player, but again, how can people argue against the fact that our centre back got muscle out of it for the first goal (and no, it wasn't a foul???)? Tadic shouldn't have started and classie should have started instead of Højbjerg (classie was very good against West Bromwich and also scored, then puel drops him?). Puel's substitutions were bordering crazy and we set up poorly from the off. Why are we letting a team that is known for a shakey defence but an awesome attack, just come onto us? We should have started with long instead of tadic and let him do what he does best and hassle the back four (he might not be the most clinical, but he never has been. He unsettles defences and he's very good at that, which makes them have to think twice and also opens up space for our runners). Manolo had no service but when he got the ball (which was very little), he was class. Also... Who tells Forster to hit it up to one of the best centre backs in the world (kompany won everything)? When some people said puel out, early in the season, i said give the guy a chance. Now, i say he has no tactical awareness and appears to not be able to motivate players. He needs to stop playing Boufal as well. He has a negative impact on almost every game. I don't post often but this is really starting to get to me now. Yes, man city are a good side, but we let them win. |

Obviously ever person are entitled to an opinion, but why are people negative towards Pelle? He's very good at what he does. I agree that he needs to be more clinical in his shooting, but the reason he hasn't scored much isn't because of that, but simply the crosses into the box haven't been good enough... Funny how no one points that out. Pelle wins most things in the air, but he plays best to feet, as he is a master of holding the ball up, and is brilliant at bringing others into play. He isn't a striker to run off the back of defenders. So how is he supposed to score? Part of the reason we play so well is because he occupies defenders and plays for the team... So maybe the actually problem for being slightly toothless at the moment are our midfielders are struggling to be clinical in front of goal. I think our midfield is one of the best in the league, and we attack beautifully, so please don't start saying that I'm being negative towards them, as I'm not. |

I was astonished at people around me regarding the sarcastic cheers when Pelle won the ball. My thoughts were "why are we playing the ball over the for Olsson to header?" He's huge and is primarily paid to do just that. He is going to win every ball in the air. As soon as we played it into Pelle's feet or cheat, he was strong and held it up very well. If it was played in the air but not by Olsson, Pelle won it. You can see the guy has a good touch. Also, I think people don't understand, that if you have a target man, people need to play close to/ off of him if he's going to win any of those balls, otherwise it's useless. I thought he done his job.... but footballs a team game. |

I think Fonte needs to be dropped. I'm think (and am hoping) that jos will be less likely to make rash decisions and will be more confident with a player who is captain for his country and appears to be more solid than Fonte. I also think that Fox does get caught out of position but he is an attacking full back so when he attacks, people should cover and having a better central defence pairing may see fox 'appear' a better player as he has made a mistake or two but players play to the standard around them! |

First of all I'd just like to say hi. I never comment on hear sites as I generally don't want to get into an argument about something that is heavily based on opinions. This time round I couldn't help myself! I don't ever say that I know anything about football as there are other people in the world who understand the game a great deal more tan I do but what I say is "let's just point out the obvious". I can't stand people saying that there isn't much difference between Fox and Harding and more so when they say Harding is actually better?!?!? It's obvious that Fox is a far superior footballer.... He is stronger, more intelligent, has better feet and his delivery is second to none. I like Harding but he does not compare and for those who doubt.... Fox will be perfectly ok in the prem. He may not get back all the time but I think you forget why we score goals. We score frequently from Fox's assists. This is because (as people have mentioned) now and then the oppositions winger is still on HIS position and not tracking fox. If you play a better side, what our full backs do will effectively pin them back as letting that man run through on the overlap is a big no no so then what happens is it is a battle of quality and fitness. Fox IS by a long way the better left back! As for people praysing hooiveld... I love him and I think he has done us wonders but I think you miss the obvious. Fonte is our main centre back. His is the better of the two. Without Jose Fonte, Hooiveld would not perform as well. Fonte does his job very well and is the footballer out of the two. As for guly, I like the guy and he does pop up with a goal or a good bit of play but what I think peopl miss is when he is used as a bit of a target man, it is vital to get the under and and keep possession for long enough to bring other players into the game and sometimes his touch isn't quite there so effectively.... He is not doing his job but at no point does this warrant a boo from anybody. I for one am proud of what the boys are doing for our club and will never boo someone wearing a saints shirt! Oh, and I think StNicks knowledge of football is excellent and although downbeat sometimes, what is the point of glossing over poor performances/play? Yes, we are doing amazingly well and I'm always taking the positives but it's spot on discussing the 'obvious' negatives..... Excellent journalism from StNick. Keep up the good work. |
