Very frustrating. Great performance marred by a load of daft errors. Despite my misgivings before kickoff I really think we could have got something out of this game. As it is, all we've done is just put Fernandes and Dibling in the shop window.

Tall Paul is he Boufal in disguise?

A reasonably good showing with the usual shoot ourselves in the foot moments.
Onuachu showed he has the touch and ability to help us going forward. Got to feel a bit sorry for McCarthy, who pulled off some great saves but let himself down trying to comply with the ridiculous instruction to play out from the back, even so we could have let the first one go for a goal kick?
If RM learns nothing from this game then he is a far more obstinate than he appears to be!

edit - "was a warning"

P.S. - Tall Paul showed he can play and again just shows how bad RM has done in picking players.
P.S.S. - Bench Jack - he is a sub at best and made multiple horrible passes.

Again we did it to ourselves. AM is at fault for 2 goals and their penalty was just bad luck. All the play form the back crap we did in the first 15 minutes was not a warning and for this RM should be sacked. He has not adapted his tactics and this is what cost us the game (along with AM).

On a separate note - on other sites the LPool fans are complaining that TD wasnt fouled and he "ran" in to their player. Typical whiners, yet VAR said there was not irrefutable evidence to over turn the on field decision - So basically, the ref got it right and leave it at that.

McCarthy started so well. He made some great saves, including a near-post rocket, and was well on his way to becoming the man of the match, but then came that quite ridiculous rolled-out clearance. We could have got away with it if our defenders had been a little more awake, including a poor clearance from Downes.
In general, we did well against one of the best European sides and it took a great Salah touch and an unlucky penalty award to defeat us.
We may well get defeated, but if they try as they did today, they deserve our support. I hope Tall Paul is fit for our remaining games. He grew into his role, and the crowd loved him.

The one thing we know is how to lose if only we new how to win that would be great. Actually l was glad to see Tall Paul playing he done a good job in my opinion and Dibling was excellent just hope we are able to keep him.Fernandes is the real deal but some dumb defending mistakes again did not help.

Gifted all three goals. Painful to watch. Battled well but terrible errors at the back. Two more injuries as well.

What do expect with Downes @ Centre Half & Fraser @ Left Back. Add in the McCarthy factor & you get another defeat. At least there was a more positive intent but the senseless playing out from the back is killing us.
For gods sake sack RM me now.

It seems something's wrong between Cifuentes and Nourry and the crowd's support for Marti shows where the fans loyalty lies.

A word of sympathy for Nourry. He shouldn't have been put in this position, without adequate support. However clever he is he can't have the experience to do a job like this without advice/mentoring from an 'old hand'.

As things stand you'd probably say the summer signings consist of 2 successes (Nardi + Saito), 3 probably ok (Varane, Morgan, Morrison) + 3 maybe ok given time (Dembele, Bennie, Ashby). So far Celar, Madsen (although he was better yesterday) and Santos have not impressed.

Data is great but a DoF needs more. He's clever so I'd hope he'll learn. He should start by stating his support for Marti and building a good relationship with him. But he may be feeling heat from the owners, which will make things difficult for him.

A loss was not unexpected, but we could justifiably have taken a point here. We did enough in attack, Dibling and Onuachu put in some memorable work. It was defence that let us down today - the usual futzing around at the back, a McCarthy howler and a lot of standing around and not anticipating. Sugawara was a bit unlucky on that penalty call. We have a long way back out of the hole we have dug for ourselves. Doesn’t look promising right now.

I would keep them all and flog Jackanourry. Literally. His data-driven masterplan has inflicted these expensive inadequates on us. (I don't include Anderson or young Ashby in this).

Celar is useless and Marti keeps playing him! Alfie Lloyd has to start in Cardiff and Celar needs to be sold in January- he is not up to the Championship. Neither is Madsen, Anderson or Ashby.

Having awarded my votes I see that Celar has an average of 1.6. How can anyone have given him more than 1. He deserves zero

4 games against some of the best teams in the league, 2 points, 6 goals conceded (3 very late in the games) and only 1 goal scored. The defence has done ok considering we missed 2 regulars for most of those games and Sam Field has filled in well. Arguably he's more effective then than in midfield except we desperately need someone in MF who can tackle and disrupt the opposition.

But only 1 goal and that was an own goal is relegation form. I think Celar has got better, more mobile, challenging more, but he lacks pace and arial (ariel?) ability and can't hold the ball up. And we aren't able to play to his strengths. He's had a few chances by now and not hit the target.

Saito is doing ok but he isn't a wing back on current form, not strong enough in the tackle. Smyth worked hard but his crossing... well we know. Nardi could have done better for the second goal - he went down too soon making the chip easy. If I had to pick a MotM I'd go for Field.

I am not a fan of sacking any manager 10 gemes into a season. Past history demonstrates that it is nearly always fatal. But it is now or never. After 70% possession but NO shots on target I simply ask if this Russell style works. The answer is clear.

Grim. With 8 injuries (I think) perhaps losing this game wasn't a surprise, especially after 2 tough gigs.I know Sunderland had 10 men for the second half, but still a good team. Marti said it was his job to coach the available players and get the best he could out of them. Not easy. Madsen yet again was very poor. He seemed slow to react to every situation. On the other hand I felt for Celar. He may not be the greatest but there were numerous occasions when he looked to make a run but the ball never came.
With Chair's injury we'll be even lower on creativity, although he didn't do well before the injury. A low level bright spark was Andersen as sub who looked better than he has all season. His bright spell coincided with 15 minutes in the second hand when we got the goal and were on top. The last 2 goals were the price of pushing for the equaliser and throwing on the youngsters.
It has to be said that Ben Doak is a special talent who will give better defenders than our a hard time.
I dread to think what will happen at Leeds.
