Unwise and badly timed comments no matter how much anyone wants to put their personal interpretation on what Jenkins said or claim vindication for their own views on Laudrup's tenure from Jenkins's comments. He shouldn't have said it in public. Simple. |
I agree. Why make those comments to the press? Though I agree that sometimes ML's talk of leagues within leagues and installing a winning mentality seems to be contradictory I don't think that washing any dirty linen in public is helpful - let alone on the eve of the derby. |  |

HJ referred to staff and players they are well paid and every now and again they need to be reminded of some basics.
He was asked where did he see the club next and put simply it is too win more matches at this level.
We have all said on the journey up the leagues if anyone staff or player does not give 100% or does not want to be here knock on HJ door and the club will help them find a club who will take them.

I don't think Laudrup is that precious. I also don't think this is purely aimed at the manager. I think Huw's trying to shake all at the club from their comfort zone. The timing is extraordinary but it's potentially a really pivotal week. |

Whatever the forum or the timing HJ is correct in every way.
Personally, I think the timing is perfect and it's better coming from him than the manager. The players did hit the beach after the League Cup final and the're barely out of their trunks now. I hate the fact that we know we are going to give the big clubs a bye. It doesn't matter that we have lost but the way we lost to Spurs in particular is disappointing. |  |

It's certainly aimed at Laudrup's frequent "league within a league" comments and to be honest I agree. The "containing" game we play against bigger teams delivers a direct message to the players that we are second best and even with top athletes psychology is not to be underestimated. Look at Fergie. He won the league with a squad and team which bar a few looked rather average on paper. But to him "we are Manchester United and we win!"
I prefer to judge us for who we are now not circa 1995 and we are one of the best passing teams capable of beating anyone on our day. We are also one the poorest physically and aerially so I'm not blinded by bias. |  |

ML is not untouchable.
ML will be gone at some point. Fact.
HJ will still be here long after and he is the future of our club, not ML. I'll back HJ before ML all day long.
I certainly read into that interview that we haven't got a long term future with ML, and HJ is looking beyond him to the next manager (who I'm sure he already has in mind who that is going to be). If we settle for always getting 40 points every season then it'll be impossible for our club to progress and we'll be taking a standpoint that our club has a glass ceiling we can't get beyond. Where's the ambition in that? What manager or player worth his salt wants to come to a club who's mentality is to survive and to celebrate that?
I know you have to be careful to get what you wish for, but I cannot see the harm in my club having the ambition to push on and strive to get to the next level, no matter how unlikely it may seem to be. In the last decade, every time I think we've gone as far as we can, the club surprise me and move onto the next level. Who's been behind this? Not ML that's for sure.

Defeatist/realistic. However you look at it LAUDRUP seems to give too much respect to the "big" clubs. I m pretty much sick of him portraying us as cheeky little interlopers on the big stage.
I reckon as fans we re pretty proud and I d like to see Laudrup spout about this too instead of being like a modern day Uriah Heap. Humblemyarse.

This is quite a turnaround. i was alone in saying these things about Laudrup over the summer, and was even accused of starting a hate campaign against him. Others are complaining about playing Michu up front and other so called negative tactics employed by Laudrup. It's worth reminding people that if it wasn't for our manager we wouldn't have Michu, and a few others, to play anywhere in the starting lineup.

We have had turmoil in the close season for most of the seasons that Huw has been in charge.This is in no way a criticism of Huw and his Board for each time we have come out stronger.
I think we all have to accept that the next close season is going to be the most difficult as it is possible that not only our manager will leave but some of our better players with him.
He has to convince those players that we are a progressive, ambitious club ,and his comments could well be as much aimed at them as at Laudrup, who he probably knows won't be here after this season anyway. | |
