It was pretty much what i wrote Phil, give or take.

Answer it again if you like, why weren't the members asked about it before the trust voted in favour of the dividend? It was also said something like, it doesn't matter if you had voted against it as the other shareholders would out-vote you anyway, r.e the 21%

The answer would be the time issue - the flippant part of the answer is the bit I wouldnt respond with as its not relevant

Tje 21% bit is completely true although I would happily tell you if we had voted against which we didnt

Usually November

Forum planned for early season once weve sorted the romanians then we can confirm date

Forum would be a good time to ask question?!

Yep sure. Makes sense if one planned in next couple of months. If you could arrange it in the London Welsh centre before one of the London games so I can arrange a pass I'd be grateful!

Whatever else happens this money should not be left in the trust. It will destroy the principle of what it is all about.
There are many things that this money could be used for .
One idea is to purchase tickets to provide under privileged kids with the chance to see the Swans,or even to sponsor one child per home game as a mascot.
A lot of good could be done with this money,or it could cause a lot of destructive problems.

Completely disagree. This is the one silver lining. Plus the aim of increasing the shareholding is one of the underlying principles of the Trust.

To my mind, keeping it in the Trust is exactly what we should do. If the unthinkable happened and we fell on hard times again, then a contingency fund might allow the Trust to buy more shares and control the running of the club eventually. I'm not against other initiatives, but it is entirely appropriate that the Trust has a substantial back up.

What Uxbridge and JandyT said.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Fairly sure in the last 12 months or so the Trust asked the members what their ongoing aims should be and that building up a 'war chest' for further share purchase came out first on the list.

Or I could have been dreaming

Must admit I didn't see the survey but that's probably my lack of paying attention. Seem to remember the outcome as you say though.

Found it

"Question 4 looked to ask members their views on what the trust should look to do with the funds it raises.
ï‚· Nearly 91% of those surveyed felt it was important or very important for the Trust to continue to buy shares in the club

Completely agree with building up a contingency fund. The trusts first aim is our clubs preservation in bad times. None of us know what the future holds.
Also, I agree with the dividends. Surely ensuring the financial support of our board ensures we are safe from takeovers by people like Petty, Hammam or Tan?
If our board, any of them, were to struggle financially, might they not choose to cash in their shares? And what if they were snapped up by a hedge fund? That would open us up to the kind of position Coventry are in.
Does a shared dividend of.....say £1,000,000 a season sound too much if it protects us from that?
One thing I do agree with (on the other side of the argument) is that the fans deserve some kind of dividend too. A discount on season ticket prices next time around would be a very nice thank you. bearing in mind the percentage of our income that season tickets generate, it wouldn't affect us that badly. Especially when we take into account next season's income. If we finish in the top ten again, we can surely afford it?
Maybe the trust can bring this up for us? Maybe Mr Sumbler can do some projections based on various levels of discount?
