Referees - Another reason for relegation 13:08 - Apr 8 with 3149 views

I just wanted to bring up a point about how much referees and linesmens decisions affect QPR...

As I was watching yesterday and Taarabt got tripped from behind and the referee didn't see it and broke quickly I again saw why we are doing so bad this season. Honestly the amount of times referees don't give us free kicks means a) We are put on the backfoot, b) We lose our attacking and c) the players lose their confidence going forward

Its a huge impact and I HATE seeing no foul given when Man Utd would be given it each and everytime.

you get relegated because you havent been good enough,good and bad decisions for every team.

I think it's more down to the fact that because we aren't very good, one or two bad decisions can really cost us as we won't create any more chances/situations.

Whereas for Man Utd they will likely be on the front foot anyway, so if they have a goal wrongfully disallowed, they'll likely just go straight back up and score again.

We've certainly had our share of poor decisions, but it's hard to be objective enough to say whether we've been really hard done by or the standard of ref's is just dire.

I think what's more unusual is just how little our players ever contest any of the decisions, whether it's for or against us, whether they are right or wrong... they just seem to accept them for what they are, which in a weird way I do have some time for, but when you see other sides harassing the officials constantly it does make you wonder why we don't do the same.

After Zamora got sent off yesterday, some bloke behind me in Ellerslie Rd was raging at the linesman : "Oi, lino you've ruined our season!"

As angry as I was at that point, just had to laugh.

To be fair OP states ANOTHER REASON - not sole reason but it's qwuite clear many other sides do wield far more influance, than we do for sure, I also thought that yes Zamora was a red card yesterday but wondered if it had been the other way round whether it would have been red.
Thereagain Sidwell was sent off last week so....

While I agree refs are shocking it's not really why we're going down.
ONce again though I do wonder if Mbia's second foul would have been given when the time left was as it was.
Summed us up to concede though.

Certainly not every team, United are deffo reffed favourably that is for sure.
Look at the fuss and outcry over Nani red card in Europe - where they are less intimidated by them and don't gave them in the pocket.

Do me a favour... The ref didn't put 5 past us when we played Swansea, he didn't make Adel miss a penalty, he didn't tell Bosingwa to give away possession against Villa and force Cesar not to punch the ball. Nor did he tell Samba to gift Fulham two goals, instruct Zamora to excute a kung fu kick on Gomez, force M'bia to give away a stupid free kick and tell Adel not to jump.

It's all our own fault, we signed the wrong players.

i dont follow utd so cant say i take much interest but like i said the big boys will get the benefit of doubt compared to the rest in fact wigan have suffered from some horrendous decisions over the last couple of seasons.

Ridiculous. We've played against ten man Everton and ten man Fulham and played even worse, we've also missed every penalty we've been given. We're just not very good.

Absolute nonsense. We've actually been reasonably fortunate with referees this season - certainly much more than last season when I thought about a dozen really dodgy things went against us over the course of the season.

How many key decisions have we had against us unjustly? An offside goal at Arsenal springs to mind, so that would have been one more point. Any more? And don't give me this Taarabt might have been tripped three minutes before we then subsequently conceded rubbish.

This is starting to do my head in now. We have been relegated because we are sht. Really, really, really sht. Stop looking for other factors and influences - there aren't any. The team isn't good enough.

I don't agree, Neil. I think you should just accept the ref's decision and get on with it, Derry-style. Browbeating the ref is an ugly aspect of today's petulant football.

What I want to see is the ref waving a yellow or two when the appeals committee starts up. That would change behaviour pretty quick.

Short memories some of you. Standard of refereeing gets a lot worse in the Championship.

Its because games are ref'd by human beings and not computers.

Its part of the fun, and the torture.

If you dont like it, go and play chess. Or something.

I don't mean in the manner you are thinking...

They just seldom react in any form, whether they agree or not, and more often than not they completely switch off and lose concentration. Nor do they even talk much with the referee to explain anything in context, something which some players do well without the need for harassment.

Like I said, I do have time for that, and personally I have never been one to question a referee when I've played, whether they are right or wrong. I've always found it amusing at how high profile they have become because whenever I played I barely noticed them or took notice of them during a game.

I would get so into the zone, the only thing I'd react to was the rules; the whistle and any commands about when to resume play or the distance people stood between free kicks, etc.

Unbelievable!

We're going down because we haven't been good enough. Must have been 16 games of poor refereeing at the beginning of the season...
The last three games we've shot ourselves in the foot. Villa - school boy defending to allow villa to score before half time. Fulham - Samba. Yesterday: Zamora, I don't know what he was thinking; M'bia naive and mindless; and Taarabt bottled it. But lets blame the ref
