Tony Fernandes was forced to sack Mark Hughes by QPR board
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/9701099/Tony

Although it's a couple of weeks old, I don't remember seeing this article posted here (sorry if it was already posted).

It's interesting for a number of reasons:
1) It looks at what different members of the board thought of Hughes.
2) It says the team selection for Manchester United was made by Hughes.
3) It says Redknapp can buy, but would have to sell to buy.
4) It puts the spending in perspective by comparing it to Southampton's.

The only sad one round here is you not being man enough to stick to your word and p*ss off until "QPR" win two games back to back.

You must be able to find other forums to troll on in the meantime surely?

It isn't the same thing at all. I expect that c*nt Redknapp to achieve better performances from the team, but I don't want him within a million miles of the club, it makes me cringe thinking of him being here.

My support for MH, as I said on many occasions, was based on supporting TF's desire for long term stability at the club, which I think is the best way forward for us. I didn't much like MH as a person, but I could see that sacking him would leave us in exactly the position we are now, with a short term managerial appointment, a further round revolving door transfers in January, and again once Redknapp goes.

I don't think that MH can blame anyone else for his dismissal than himself really, it was his team and squad and he couldn't get it to perform.

My support for MH, as I said on many occasions, was based on supporting TF's desire for long term stability at the club.
Well how about supporting his new long term ambition instead of calling him a c@nt!
MH will go down as one of the worst managers in the history of our club so we had every right to question his position.
I think we will agree to disagree on most of this subject Watford

Appointing Redknapp isn't long term. It's an appointment with one simple task to be performed; keep us up. If TF (or perhaps more correctly the owners) were looking long term, Redknapp would not have been appointed as the one and only candidate to replace MH within a day of MH's dismissal.

I didn't like MH and my opinion of Redknapp hasn't changed since his days at West ham and won't be changing any time soon. I think appointing Redknapp was a step backwards for our long term ambitions, and I don't even think he is particularly smart tactically. But if we are going to stay up, he's going to have to be successful for us. And he's going to need to realise that games like yesterday need to be approached as win or bust, with two upfront.

Bosh I totally agree! We have wanted stability for years yet when we get it some fans are in an outrage about it! Get a grip!

Thing Is Dan, for years and years we've been bloody paupers, we've had to sit and watch foolhams rise from obscurity, chelshits rise from obscurity you might have been at foolhams ground when we went there and had to listen to their bloody fans singing to us "we've got loads of money" and all we could do is walk away and turn up at LR for our next game to be met with a begging bucket.

Unpaid players, unpaid tax bills, the lights getting turned off at the training ground, administration always around the corner,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

All of us idiots praying for a financial benefactor to turn up, some sort of fairy godmother with a fat wallet or at least someone with enough dosh to get us too and keep us in the Prem.

All that and we still fck It up.

Who'd be a QPR fan eh?

The measure of TF's acumen and long term impact really, is not whether the guy has made mistakes at QPR, even huge ones. As Chubbs pointed out, there were very many of us who thought that we were going to do at least reasonably under MH, how could we fail?

The measure of the man as QPR chairman will be whether he has the stomach for a long term fight, whether he realised all along that, as the common caveat runs, the value of his investment could fall aswell as rise, that a football club, outside of the few gilt-edged establishments, is liable to relegation and failure, in many cases more often than outright success.

If we get relegated and TF leaves us high and dry he will be judged harshly, but if he stays and continues to build the club's infrastructure, if he proves to be sensitive to the club's history and to its realistic potential, then people will forgive him Mark Hughes and 2012-13.

There is a story about Chou-en Lai: someone asked him whether the French Revolution had been a success, he said that it was too soon to tell. The same must be admitted for the career of TF as Rangers' Chairman..... it's early days for a club that arguably wasn't ready, or at least was ill-prepared for promotion to the Premiership.

‘morbid curiosity about where this is all going’

You are right, the measure of Tony Fernandes as QPR chairman will be what he does now, sell up & ship us straight up sh!t creek without a paddle, or stick by us.

I've love to think it would be the latter but have a growing sense of unease it will be the former.

Watford he spent 4 years at Spurs only losing his position due to touting himself for the England job.4 successful years which would have moved into 5 but for his over exuberance regarding the England job.
That's pretty long term in Premier league terms.
Remove your obvious dislike for him and you'll see the wood for the trees.

We were ill prepared for promotion but as luck would have it, we were given another crack and yet we have still managed to screw up. I remember throughout the summer the most poplar post was 'Centre backs' followed by 'Striker' yet for some strange reason we didn't address these areas. I'm not saying that Fernandes should leave the club, I just think that he should not be the chairman because it's obvious that he knows bugger all about football.

Hope history isn't going to repeat itself. We fell out of the premier league just as big money came rolling in. Next season SKY revenue increases dramatically hope we don't miss out again.

Who really believes TF and his people whoever they are will be at the club say 5 years from now?
I think thats the real concern, many on here however (and elsewhere I guess) are prone to hysteria and suggesting they will desert posts if/when we go down, well given we could well be relegated by March your talking a matter of weeks.

I do and I dont think his motivation is about making a profit as per Caterham

When he signed Hughes he set out to bring in a club builder we had this debate at the time do you get in a club builder who will build a long term infrastructure or do you bring in a team builder who's focus is purely on the first team. Hughes CV suggested that he would be ideal of what was available. Warnock had got us promoted and then his acquisitions in september led us to having the oldest team ever to play in the premier league at Newcastle.

We looked like good relegation bets with that run in, and of course it would have been better to get a younger striker but signings of Zamora and Cisse seemed like a step up. Onhura had a good reputation in the game, Taiwoo and Diakete were on loan and we were without Adel who had been badly mismanaged at the start of the season.

Come the great escape last summer and things looked quite positive, we needed a striker, 2 centre backs a right back a winger. Fernandes supported the manager and the manager bought badly and without too much thought, coupled with the fact he is a really poor man manager and not great tactically with really poor pre-season led us to where we are.

If Fernandes is guilty of anything it may be complacency, complacency that because we had stayed up that Hughes would be true to his word. We all thought Swansea was a blip a fluke but the truth as we saw was a manager who had no idea what to do with his first team, and let some squad players go that we really miss now.

Yes he supported Hughes too long and clearly it was a mistake to appoint a friend and its clouded his judgement, but seriously some of the comments on here are as if these guys have been living in a vacuum for the last 20 years. He has supported his managers in the transfer market, he appointed the guy that turned around the dome as his ceo, they've made steps to buying a new training ground, plans for a stadium, geeze its not like they are not trying, they've been naive at times, they were dealt a poor hand to begin with, and the manager they trusted ballsed up on an epic scale having never done so before.

i disagree about playing two up front, if we had started with a 4-4-2 as we did every week under Hughes then i think we'd have lost the game, we struggled to control the midfield with 5, if we had started with 4 we'd have been beaten

"Briatore stuck his massive beak into team affairs and everyone was seething when he did that. When our current chairman provides money towards the team, training ground and a potential new stadium and has nothing to do with picking the team some of our "fans" say that is not enough!!!! "
