Personally I think the intensity we played the first half of the last two matches can't be maintained. This is where the substitutions are vital to maintain the momentum. I wouldn't being against making one or two at halftime to come out flying, instead of making changes 15 minutes later, our bench is strong enough now. Any plans the opposition made at halftime could well be nulled.

It's a point that is being made to the edge of tedium, but unless Williams is a complete idiot then there's no way on Earth that he's pairing Grimes and Fulton in midfield at any point, either from the start or via substitution, in an effort to maintain intensity.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Last last week,a most welcome three points
However what Williams hasn’t come clean about is the fact we were hanging on for most of the second half right to the end.
Blackburn weren’t the worn out despondent shower some
thought were easy meat for us.
He has to ask himself questions and not come up with bland bollox for answers
Next up,a dysfunctional Watford ,a real chance to make it three wins in a row

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Always happy to take a win against a team good enough to hold a team 8th in premier league to 1-1 after AET.
We scored 1 goal more than Newcastle managed after 120 minutes.

Poll: Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed.

The bench may look stronger but would you risk some of the players coming back after lengthy injuries with a full 45 minutes?
Midweek game changes to starting line up? Don't really want to see them but wonder what the mindset of the manager will be, keep it tight as the home team tries to attack catching them on the break but not playing both winger only one and then swap them half time?

The long and the short of it is, we still need 3/4 players to give us the strength and quality to maintain the style of play across all 90 minutes.

Once Placheta and Ronald were subbed we became the poor side of us, same as at Sunderland. I expect it to be the same now for the rest of the season, inless a few players come through from the U21's. Will be even harder now if Pato is out long term.

No real mention lately of Charles Sagoe Junior, but supposedly has pace.

Is he one that has been brought in for potentially next season?

It was more my thoughts of having a look at him, and him us, this season, with a view of a season long loan for 24/25

Have read somewhere that he's out of contract in the Summer?

In any case, in his appearances so far he's looked even more reluctant to get forward than Grimes, which is a bit of a disadvantage in a winger.

To be fair he's only had 2 sub appearances

Came on 77 min against Plymouth and 78th against Leeds.

And in both games, when fed the ball with a chance to get forward, he looked absolutely terrified every time and ended up playing the ball backwards.

From what I hear he's very highly rated so there's still time. Maybe he just needs to believe in himself more because he's not going to dislodge Ronald or Placheta as things stand.

No I don't think he will dislodge them.

Still don't think it's been enough playing time to judge, but find it slightly odd that he was brought in with pace being mentioned.

If he is out of contract then maybe it is his first stage of finding a club?

3swan made a suggestion. You immediately treat that as an actual fact and start whining about it.

Pathetic.

If only a 46 game season was decided on just thse games eh.

I don't get yates coming on and Fulton for Allen just saw the same problems emerge that we saw against Sunderland, and previous to that too.

Our defence isn't very good but Williams previous record shows attacking flair but with a leaky defence. Looks very mich to be an ongoing pattern.

Allen really does make a difference, far from being past it he brings stability, he reads the game so well and we need to keep him fit. Better to have Joe for an hour every game than not at all.

Cullen ran his socks off but didn't really do much. Tymon keeps improving and Naughton look revitalised but still we look dodgy under free kicks and corners.

Ronald and Placheta are the edge we needed but again today they were great first half but faded badly in the second, because Plach wasn't playing first team and the Poruguese league isn't as hurly burly, maybe they need to build up some stamina?

Rushworth was his usual self today, reliable, safe hands.

Yates and Fulton, we really need to replace them. I like Fulton but he doesn't fit anymore and yates, hs confidence looks totally shot, he's a shadow of the player he was even after a few eeks here. For me they bth need a fresh start.

First half 8.5/10 second 6/10 and thats being a tad generous.

As has already been mentioned... you summed up the afteroon but I thought that Rushworth's distribution was worse than previous and Tymon (who I like) seemed to go a little crazy/crap for around 5+ minutes late in the game.

It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. - Carl Sagan
