Agree. And the rest slow to come out to him. Cook then heads it when Begovic has it covered, and it's in. A bit unlucky but also totally avoidable. Grrr very frustrating, done well up to then. can't see us getting anything from this now. | | | |

Cracking 51 minutes of football but that was a tough sucker punch to take.
Maybe given too much space but we all know what he was going to do, but really unlucky with the massive deflection.
I'd take a draw now but that's not to say I don't believe we've got a goal or two in us this half attacking on the break with Sinclair and Dykes.
Will be intertsing to see Ainsworth set up and substitutions in the 2nd half... |  |

For me, we've struggled ominously to exert ourselves all game, both before and since the red card, though Sunderland, their maddening goal aside, have been all mouth and no trousers - 24% possession, and I don't think it would have been much higher with all 11 of us. Since Colback departed for his premature shower, though, we've defended industriously and competently, but have been lamentable in getting out and have scarcely mustered a counter-attack. Even with 10 men, for me, it's just not good enough. Chair has done his best in getting down and very occasionally up, but Smyth has vanished, Dozzell is anonymous, and Armstrong is isolated. A big performance needed from Ainsworth and Dobson to claim a point at least. [Post edited 16 Sep 2023 16:14]

Having watched it on the replays, and despite what Sunderland comms predictably had to say, I thought it a thick yellow, especially for what I think was a first offence. Will be interesting to find out what our coaching team thinks. | |
