Can’t have a bad word against this performance.
Our problem is, he’s spent 2 years amassing players to play a certain system, so now we are left without any natural width, which does show itself.
But can’t fault the 4-3-3 wide approach, possession with purpose, moved the ball quickly and got forward in numbers.
Exactly how we should be playing, but just with more natural players in certain positions.
Really pleased for Fish too keeping a clean sheet and shutting up some idiots. Not a bad performance out there, Ntcham was a class act and Cullen looked deadly.
Well done to Russ - but he has to now take this forward and ditch his central 4-2-1-2-1 system. We CANNOT go back to the old ways like we have done time and time again previously. | |

Yes, I was pleased for Fisher as well. Didn’t have to do an awful lot but what he did do, he did it well.
His weak spots are something that he’s going to have to work in and that includes coming for catches which he doesn’t do enough if. But that’s for another game, well played today. | |

By playing the system we did today we had more bodies in the middle of the pitch, this put less of a strain on players like Ntcham who was my player of the match.
The seeds of today have been there for the last two games. If we cut out the silly mistakes and we will be fine. Excellent win and hopefully we keep it up.

Pick a team containing attacking players and you get an attacking performance. Football is a simple game despite Russy's attempts to complicate everything.
Ntcham is by some considerable distance the most creative, most naturally talented attacking midfield option we have, so obviously despite scoring and assisting more than any other central option he's largely been left on the bench lately. Fulton's suspension has forced Russy's hand there, but no doubt Jay will be on the bench next game whilst Grimes or Cundle continue to do not much of anything really. [Post edited 19 Mar 2023 15:54]
