Whisper it … but have we finally worked out how to do effective set pieces, after years of free kicks to Row Z and corners that don't beat the first man? We seem to be clever and inventive now. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

A lot of credit to Neil Banfield and John Eustace for this, the last 2 years they have come up with a lot of different set ups at set pieces and we've scored quite a few goals through them

When Barbet finally knocks one in, the roof will come off.

Most set pieces do not work however much work you put into them in training sessions, just so happened yesterday they got rewards.

Those routines look great when they work. It makes sense to try something different.

Hull must be pretty pissed off as we did it to them twice yesterday.

Are you saying there's no point in practising them as it doesn't pay off? If so, that's just nonsense. I don't think Brentford would pay £100k a year for a specialist set piece coach if that were true.

If you're saying that statistically you don't score the majority of the time that you have a set piece, that's just obviously true.

Look up Adam Peaty on training. It's fascinating. Each aspect he practices makes an incremental difference. It might be only a thousandth of a second. But when you put it all together it produces gold medals and world records.

If they hadn't practised those set pieces, maybe one of them doesn't go in. Across the course of the season that might mean the difference between 0 points and 1 point or 1 point and 3 points.

Warbs is all about the details. You can see why not being able to train much at the beginning of last season was a disadvantage to us and you can see the difference now.

It's probably been weakened by all the times he missed.

….by all the times he hit it.

Indeed, particularly as they were both pretty much the same idea which Hull fell for twice.

Yebbut...as everyone knows only goals from only play count as proper goals, so this game was really more like 2.5 nil.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?
