Seemed genuine to me but I can see how it works - I always play my cards close to my chest and never tell anyone anything until it is cast iron agreed, and I have been known to downplay a situation if there is no agreement, so I get it. It seems that Martin was in full on denial mode until the Swans made their interest official by going through Winkleman and waiting to see what he had to say about it, anything before that he wisely kept to himself.
