Going into administration.

Poll: Would you take Ward-Prowse back?

Debenhams on 12:52 - Apr 6 with 1593 viewsCity_boy

Sound like it is to provide breathing space and some will continue trading after lock down.

The problem for Debenhams will be the arrangement they have with suppliers. Even if some stores do survive who will want to deal with them, unless they pay for goods up front ?

I hope they manage to survive and pull through, but it looks ominous and has been for a while now.

I dont think anyone would be surprised about that. They've been struggling for years. Southamptons Plummers and Edwin Jones were brought out by Debenhams back in the day.

Poll: If our new manager is a success, which club will he be managing in 2 years time?

Radio report said they wanted to go into administration and then buy themselves back out, once the virus has gone !!

With the amount of land the Soton store is on, it must be worth a damn sight more as offices/flats/student accommodation, or is the land not theirs?

Preventative measures I think.? As when in admin, they do not have to pay any monies owed to creditors. However, I feel they will go pop once we come out of this.

Poll: Have we reached our peak as a 6th - 10th placed club?

Let's be honest, Debs has been going downhill for many years. I can recall going there a lot in the 1980's, especially to the ground floor cafe. I have noticed it is much more empty now with each passing year.

The only bad air around here is you guys farting around.

High probability it is leased.

What was the name of the record shop down there? Don't think I've been in there since I bought Stutter Rap on 12" single.

Ah. Talking of record stores... I remember fondly Weston Hart in the High Street, Fareham back in the late 70's. I must have spent half my teenage years in the listening booths with the latest albums that took my fancy. Happy days.

I thought it was an HMV sub, no? You are right though. I used to get Rap stuff there also. They always seemed to have obscure stuff you could not get anywhere else.

They did have a record shop called 4 Play in Debenhams. I bought an Inspiral Carpets Cool as F##k T Shirt which my mum confiscated.

I went in there about 4 years ago for some reason, no idea why - it was sh*t. Run down, low on stock, disinterested staff and the cafe STANK of old people's over-boiled veg.

Such a shame as it used to be really good.

What the hell was the name of the record shop in Gibbs Road? Cannot recall for the life of me. For years they specialised in rap, reggae and soul types of tunes. I spend shed loads in that place but cannot remember the name now.

Henry's - what a place. He'd get you anything from anywhere in the world. Got all my reggae stuff from him. He knew a crew member on the QE2 who would buy stuff in Fort Lauderdale and bring it back for him.

I can remember when the internet was all fields
