Summer Transfers 10:49 - May 30 with 138568 viewsderbyhoop

There's always lots of speculation, 90% generated by agents. Might be good to have 1 thread.

I don't understand the speculation that has linked us with Adam Matthews from Sunderland, Adam Maher from AZ Alkmaar and Liam Kelly from Livingstone.
Matthews is a RB where we have Furlong, Rangel and Kakay
Maher is a midfielder where, even if Freeman goes, we're not short of options.
Kelly is a keeper. We have Lumley, Ingram and Dieng, unless the latter goes to Glasgow Rangers.

I believe Warburton managed him at Rangers and Nottingham Forest. If true, this is becoming something of an epidemic.

If true, this is now officially ridiculous.

I quite like Mckay, ripped us apart up at Forest the other year, but...
- not a position we're particularly short in
- very inconsistent player
- see previous concerns around Ball

That one against us was his best ever performance going by everything I've since read. A fine tradition of course.

Conor Masterton. 20 year old CB released by Scousers

Poll: Moses Odubajo - Stick or Twist?

Masterton strikes me as a Gary Penrice influenced deal.

More info emerging re the exit of Matt Smith (the big Posh one). He wanted to know if he was a major part of Warburton's plans, but didn't get the re-assurances he was seeking, which was why he wanted to go. I think he was entitled to assume he'd be a regular starter. Is there anybody else, ATM?
Freeman seems to have gone for about £5m. Bristol C entitled to 15% of the profit which they are estimating at 675,000. I presume QPR have to pay that, so we're going to bank, roughly, £4.3m.
Luongo still being touted by Sir Les. Better to get a good fee now, than nothing at all in 12 months.

I just hope we have a striker lined up, because if we have to rely on Oteh and Walker, we'll struggle to get to double figures in the Goals For column.

To be fair, if Oteh is in just to take penalties he'll score more than our strikers last season ;)

Bare bones.

Not convinced by Walker at all. Oteh has half a chance. There'll be two other strikers coming in.

Or one other striker and another attacker? I think we might end up converting one of our attacking players if the need arises - Eze, BOS, McKay if he signs. There's options depending on the way we're going to play and it would save a lot not having to fund 2 strikers...

Martin Rowlands played a big part in him coming so not sure where that sits in the has the new signing been scouted by the correct people category

Don't forget little Smyth knows where the net is and can be used in such a position.

Of course, great shout. I mean theoretically, we have Smyth, Oteh and Walker that have played as strikers, and the likes of BOS, Wheeler, Eze that might be coached to be able to do the job there. Of course, the ideal thing is to have a specialist that is adept at leading the line in a system and style that MW wants and I'm sure we have ideas on who we want for that.

Those above are nice backup options, but we still have to sign at least one purpose-bought specialist.
