Maureen Peacock 10:24 - Dec 23 with 4617 views | 442Dale | http://mobile.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/club-saddened-by-passing-of Really sad news. Maureen was one of the reasons this club survived through the 80s as she was a driving force behind the setting up of Junior Dale. Without her there would be plenty of kids who might not have turned up every week dragging their parents and friends to games too. A lot of those kids still go regularly today thanks to her hard work in getting them hooked in the first place. [Post edited 23 Dec 2016 10:24]

Maureen Peacock on 10:43 - Dec 23 with 4551 views | R17ALE | Yes. RIP Maureen. One of those faces who has been a constant feature around the club ever since I was a wee lad. Back in the day when I lived outside of Rochdale the only way to find out a night-time home score was to phone the club at 9.15pm and ask. Sometimes from a piss filled red kiosk with 2p to push into the slot on the beeps! It was always Maureen who'd answer not realising if she was about to make, or ruin, a youngster's night! Maureen Peacock on 10:53 - Dec 23 with 4501 views | BrighouseDale | This is the type of event we SHOULD have a minute's silence for, someone who was a part of the club and so highly thought of by the community. Thoughts go out to Maureen's family and loved ones, rest in peace.

Maureen Peacock on 11:10 - Dec 23 with 4450 views | Boss_Hog | To echo the thoughts of 442 really as I was also a stalwart of Junior Dale back in the 80s and undoubtedly she was a driving force behind this. I must have spent endless hours in that room at the back of the old main stand down the years and it is thanks to the efforts of people like Maureen that I follow the club to this day. Thanks Maureen for all your hard work and be assured that is being continued to this day as the likes of me and 442 now bring our kids to the matches in the way you took us to games all those years ago. Please keep us posted on the funeral details as I can imagine there will be many who wish to attend.

Maureen Peacock on 15:16 - Dec 23 with 3935 views | justanillusion | My condolences to Maureen's family, like many others my introduction to Dale was back in mid eighties with Maureen running Junior Dale, lovely lady who introduced so many young fans to the Dale. R.I.P Maureen
Maureen Peacock on 17:14 - Dec 23 with 3761 views | TVOS1907 | I can only echo the other comments in this thread. Those of us of a certain age grew up with Maureen always being around at Spotland and at away games; and I mean ALWAYS. People like Maureen are the fabric of clubs like Dale. She nurtured many young supporters through their early days and kept encouraging us to come back, which wasn't easy in the early 1980s. I imagine she has carried out a multitude of volunteer and 'helping out' roles at Spotland and matchdays in the office area will be missing one vital ingredient from now on. RIP Maureen
| When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf? |
