I wish I'd kept it.... 21:14 - Aug 11 with 12330 viewsRamseyR

You often hear people say it.... So, what have you got rid of, that you wished you still had?

For me my MK1 Ford escort, my Suzuki TS125 and a little bit of the old Loftus Road plastic pitch

This...the Esso football club badges - took ages to get the lot and had it safe for years sadly lost in house move. Anyone else remember it?

Nothing, really. I like moving house and decluttering. Given a choice the only things I'd permanently keep would be the watch my wife gave me for my 40th and the one I inherited from my Dad.

I had one of them! Well, Dad was buying the petrol, but I had the board. Never finished it and not sure where it is now.

Also had the world cup coin set.

I am still Steve but no longer in Dagenham.

sold 99% of Vinyl Collection in its thousands with the Decks( 2 sets). amps, speakers , mixers , strobes , lighting etc etc. Sold off on e bay over the course of a year after my second divorce and to help me retrain when i left the city.
Still wake up some mornings thinking that i still have it. Some bits and pieces worth a fortune now. cant look on discogs. God i regret it.

The above house In said second Divorce. Left with fack all!.

The kids In above said divorce !.

My Renault 5 gt turbo , G reg and Yellow capri with black vinyl roof..sold off after my first divorce..

The above House In said first Divorce left with fack all..

Sold off the first 25 cd's of the global underground prog house collection..could still get that back piecemeal ....but would cost a few quid.

Massive comic collection of dc, marvel, Dark horse, Graphic novels etc etc. Had a huge collection of bronze age comics from the seventies that my old girl kept safe for me. Being a compulsive all or nothing type of gadge, I spent every spare penny i had adding to that collection in the early 90's. i.e. Had First frank miller art, Legends of the dark knight, sandman, hellblazer, punisher, watchmen, v for vendetta, etc etc number 1 issues. including stuff that was never taking out of the sealed bags as it would lose its value . sold the lot for £1500 when it was worth four times that to comic showcase in covent garden. Cant look at price guides as would be too gutting.

all the resulting cash from the from that sale went up my hooter. Mindbendingly stupid..gutted now as i wish kept them for my eldest boy.still you live and definitely learn.

Club fliers from the late 80's to the early noughties.miss them for sentimental value. im sure theres plenty of other stuff but ive probably blanked it out.

edit ..300 + rolling stone magazines from the early to mid 70's . wish i kept those.

So the moral of the story is not to get married? what would you have changed if anything considering you have lived a pretty interesting life it seems. Material possessions are all pretty irrelevant as we will all find out one day but its the monetary gain more than the joy of actually owning the item that pisses most people off. If your Mark II Mexico was worth £500 there would be no love lost.

Im philosophical about it all mate, Im still alive contrary to all Known medical science, got a great Mrs , Decent gaff and the wee bairns are very happy with their mother. I see my eldest from my first marriage all the time. I earn less than half of what i was earning in 2006 and never been happier. I value life and its quirks so much more than i ever did when i was younger. you cant moan about what you had in a material sense when you have lost half a dozen mates through addictions.

im Looking forward to life... hopefully looking out on the leigh on sea mud flats on a cold december afternoon , kept warm with a ready brek glow of my memories.

ps.. and im getting that cd collection back at a rate of one per month. i shit myself with excitement everytime one gets delivered.

Im with you toast on the 86 Guinness top as it was my first kit and the first full year I went to all of the home games (bar Chelsea 6-0 ) oh and the England 86 world cup kit and tracksuit my old girl threw away

I also had the dennis the menace influence kit which I gave away

also back in the day when I went to record shops and raves I used to pick up the flyers
my whole bedroom was covered in them , I gave them to a little lad up the road a few years later but I had hundreds of the things and some really good ones as well

oh and being the spoilt little barsteward I had every single star wars figure and ship going (monkey roots will probably say the same )
the whole lot , god knows what happened to them but they are worth a fortune now

I've still got loads of my star wars stuff in the garage... Not even close to good condition though...

Nice, so you were third time lucky? I love hearing these stories to be honest about the ups and downs of life. Met a friend of my dads recently who was a bouncer(boxer) at all the big Irish clubs in London back in the day and the stories he had make London sound like the wild west(but as he says it was fists and not guns). He was called into quieten a bar (i think in the bush) and there were weekly running battles with particular gang that was particularly nasty. Battles with the mad Magee's and the women were just as rough(planting Stilettos in peoples heads). He had a lot of regrets and as with most of the Irish they pissed a lot of it up the wall but they are always looked back to as good times, was a little wild and had to watch their backs but still good times. I guess its the same as us all. We are invincible in our late teens/twenties. So i guess what im trying to say is that most people have regrets for drinking/drugs and wish they kept there health or money more but then it would not have been the same life and arguable which was better(during the younger years that is).

Weren't they stickers? I think I still have that collection. For a while, my parents owned a Humber Hawk (a bit like an upholstered, aircraft hangar on wheels) so we spent an awful lot of time at the local petrol station.

I wish I / my parents had kept the albums full of old postcards which my dad threw away when we cleared out my great uncle's house. There would definitely have been some rare and exotic stamps in there from the early 20th century, but my dad hates clutter. I swear he threw out my Striker - World Cup edition without telling me.

They were free with petrol from Cleveland - dad used to run the factory workers tea kitty look after the reps so as kids we used to get all the collectable stuff Brooke Bond tea cards etc.

An original copy of the un-released A&M Records "God Save The Queen" by the Sex Pistols.

Before its release they infamously wrecked A&M's offices and were booted off the Label. Keeping, of course, their lovely advance. Malcolm McLaren tried the trick again at Virgin to which he met his match with Richard Branson who just said "trash what you like, I'll take the repairs out of your royalties".

A&M scrapped all the copies made but a few (about 30-50) were kept in the safe plus some had got out too before being recalled and were considered in the collecting fraternity to be one of the most collectible, changing hands in the 80's & 90's for £3,000+ (probably £6k+ in today's money).

I worked at A&M for 10 years and when it closed in the summer of 1998 any employee who'd been there over 8 years, which was about 13 of us I think, got a copy along with a letter of authenticity.

Once the collecting fraternity heard of this prices plummeted and one cheeky fukker offered me £500!

I eventually sold it about 18 months later for £1500 as I desperately needed the money.

About 10 years later someone I used to work with there and still worked with where we had both moved to gleefully kept reminding me of copies that had sold in Japan for up to £10,000. The guy was a millionaire (and a Director) and I wanted to lump him one!
