Joe Allen to Stoke? on 10:20 - Jul 21 by shandyjack | 15 in 88 league games isn't a great record at all, not for £15m. 11 of those came in one season too. Only 1 league goal last season |
It's not great but it's one hell of a lot better than our current wingers. I agree with you about the £15m. I'd rather get Allen
Joe Allen to Stoke? on 10:44 - Jul 21 with 3715 views | tomdickharry | Back to Joe Allen, losing him to Stoke would be bad business,a player who is quality and knows our club and its fantastic fans, can be a regular for us for many years to come and would strengthen our team in the critical area of midfield. Believe we will match what Stoke offer and he will come back,if we don't could see some very unhappy players in our squad.

Joe Allen to Stoke? on 10:21 - Jul 21 by CopperJack | Mid-Sept, October, November & December doesn't count as a start. 8 points from the first 4 games, including Chelsea & Utd was a hugely impressive start - most people were discussing Champions League football. Even Gomis was on form, which says a lot. Those 8 points helped give us a much needed lift - in fact, without those 8 points, we'd have been in 17th place. But why let facts stand in the way, eh? |
We beat villa away end October I was there,so what he on about never won until December he chatting bubbles

Agreed, and if not for the change of management and the success they had with the same players that didn't win for near enough 3 months then we prob would have relegated. We beat Utd who were out of sorts all season and drew with a poor Chelsea side ( who we finished 3 points behind), Facts. The same way facts are we finished the season well and were only a 4/5 points behind Stoke/Liverpool who were all season talked about as Europa league hopefuls. Hardly a team lacking any quality

I really really hope this is made up. If we value Ki at over £7m yet are only willing to bid £8m for Allen then that is seriously baffling, and just confirms how inept / out of touch our so-called transfer "experts" are.

Indeed it is. 25 goals in 119 games (many as sub, particularly last year). Its a good record- different level to Dyer, Routledge, Barrow, Montero etc. £15M for him or £25m for Wijnaldum. I'd be going for Chadli as the better value buy there.

That is a decent record, its all relative, look at Dyer, Montero and Routledge's records in the Prem for goals per game, even Scott Sinclairs record in the Prem, look at what some see as an ATG in Ryan Giggs goals per game record for a team that was winning most of the time and scoring lots of goals. In football speak Chadli has a goal in him and that is reflected in his record, what do you want to be satisfied ? somebody like Garrincha !

Joe Allen to Stoke? on 18:30 - Jul 21 with 2471 views | Glyn1 | This is a serious question - is Stoke a bigger club than us? They've a bigger stadium, and they usually finish slightly above us in the table so are more likely candidates to get into the Europa, but otherwise aren't we at the same level? They do now play an attractive passing game, so it's easy to see Joe fitting in there. [Post edited 21 Jul 2016 18:32]

Those players are insanely valuable to Newcastle as the financial reward for promotion is so high. Plus they can't replace the "quality" they'd be losing for any money. Trying to buy from relegated clubs is dumb. There's no value in that market.

I think Stoke ARE a bigger club than us. Bigger ground, fan base, history, as are most of the clubs in the division which make our achievements even better. Newcastle, Leeds, Villa are all bigger but even if they hate us they'll have a grudging respect for what's happening in SA1 and would love to swap places with us. Whether people like it or not we are little old Swansea, punching well above our weight and long may it continue. The joy of beating these big teams on their own patch is just something else (even though we have always been lucky enough to catch every one of them on an off day).
