Yes, there's a definitely a delay after today and I'm sure if we could get someone today we would. I get the feeling, though, when it comes to us, we end up way down the queue with these things and it means we run out of time.
I do think a few things were meant to happen over the weekend and didn't come off. Hill's comments published yesterday seemed to suggest that. [Post edited 1 Feb 2016 21:15]

93 day deals would end before the end of the season. Some teams won't let players out until their own deals have gone through, so they fall over the line and have to be done a week later. | |

I'd give Hooper another year and maybe Syers if he plays well, as he looked a decent player. I'm sure Hill will look to offload Alessandra in the summer and that there will be massive changes afoot. |
We surely can't be judging Syers on one appearance (in which he did pretty well) so far....surely he is at San Spotty for the long haul?
When listed like Chaff has done we do indeed have some dead wood in our ranks......but also within that lot there is a lot of potential (Messrs Hooper, Bell ,Hasler Cregg and Donaldo)it's just that Hilly seems to ignore some of them

I know it's not over yet but I'm surprised and annoyed we've failed to bring anyone in and let anyone go. As it stands, I don't think we're guaranteed safety, I know we should be able to comfortably avoid relegation but to still have players here who Hill doesn't want here, or who aren't good enough is disappointing and it would have been nice to have seen a couple come in to freshen things up. We're gonna keep pushing Alessandra out of the picture despite him being the second highest earner at the football club, we're gonna stick with Joe Bunney, we're going with what we have despite everybody knowing we need a striker bringing in and probably a goalkeeper.
It also means we're almost certainly in for a very interesting summer, recruitment wise, as we have several players out of contract. If my records are correct then the contract lists are as follows:

I'd probably only offer terms for Bennett (one year deal depending on fitness), Mendez-Laing and Rafferty (only because he's a decent enough defender and I can't imagine he'll be on anything that remotely resembles a big wage. I'd keep Eastham but Hill obviously doesn't want him so why stand in his way to leave for first team football. I'd activate Allen and McDermott's extension options obviously but the rest can go because we can do miles better than all of them. |

Alessandra's a strange one in that never a word is mentioned of him in interviews, articles, not even the "rumour mill", he's still contracted for next season, something obviously not going right for him.
