At NO stage was the ball played by a Swansea player whilst Graham was in an offside position, so he could not possibly be offside.
People need to understand that a player is judged to be onside or offside depending upon where he was when the ball was last played by a TEAM-MATE.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, the key thing is understanding in which circumstances a player who is offside from a team-mates pass (but doesn't touch the ball) can then be allowed to re-join play. A touch from a defender is NOT enough. |  | | |

When the ball is played a player in an advanced position can only be offside if he influences the gameplay directly at that very moment. That means, if Gomis had challenged the keeper or tried to get to the header he would have been offside, he didnt.
Much like if a winger is played and the striker is "offside", the striker isnt influencing the game directly and can drop back at any time to receive the pass.
The goal was not offside, Gomis did nothing whatsoever to influence gameplay directly untill the defender headed the ball. |  |

I don't think it makes any difference that it came off a defender. Take our first goal for instance - if Ki had been offside when Jonjo shot then it wouldn't have made any difference that the ball came off McGregor last. He still would have been flagged. |
The offside law is specific in this respect IF Gomis was in an offside position when the ball is played, even if it hit a defender he IS still offside. |  |

If you are in a offside position when the ball is played in.....and it scrims off a defender....and lands at your feet you are then deemed to be on side.........FACT..... [Post edited 4 Apr 2015 23:03]

No it wouldn't the ref is there to make sure the rules are applied....and as they just said on MOTD, Gomis wasn't deemed to be off side because it come off a Hull defender. | |
