Ralph Hasenhuttl has expressed his satisfaction with the training camp and opening friendly in Austria.
Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl knows as much as anybody that at this stage pre season offers little insight into how your season will go, as the weeks progress things will fall into shape.
It is about getting things wrong now so you get them right on the opening day and building so that you hit the peak then not four weeks before.
On the surface it is difficult to see but underneath the manager will be seeing a lot.
This is what he had to say
It was a perfect week, I think. We had fantastic facilities here, the weather was ok, the guys worked very hard and it was a very good atmosphere. Also with the last test against Altach, I'm happy,” the Saints boss told the club’s website.
"We have another topic now this week, and time to work. We have the China trip, so there is a little bit of travelling next week, but it's ok."
"It was the test we expected, after these hard training sessions, after this hard week, against an opponent who is one week from the start [of their season].
"It was a tough game. They showed they can also play good football.
"The first half both teams had a lot of chances and the second half it was a little bit less.
"It was an intense week, but finally at the end of it I have seen a few good things and a few things I didn't like, so it was exactly the test I wanted, and with no injuries, so it was good."
