Made his debut for the Imps and had a goal disallowed before being substituted in the 85th minute.

Lincoln drew 1-1 at Wyscum.

An interesting article on the BBC website regarding loan signings and the recall clause for the season-long loans.

As we were recently affected by this with the recall of Joe Taylor by Luton to then send him to Lincoln - I thought some might be interested.

Thoughts???

I did see that article, quite a good read I thought. Regardless of what happened with JT, or Aaron Donelly this season, the article does well to highlight the uncertainty attached to season-long, particularly if the player does well. The author mentions but doesn’t really drill too deeply into the role/ influence of agents. Cutting a loan short is ultimately the decision of the parent club, but it is undoubtedly the agents stimulating the interest.

It would be nice to see a much more rigidly defined set of criteria governing when and why loanees could be recalled, but that would of course have to include because he’s being sold (Donnelly) or needed to fill the void from someone else being sold (Nathan Lowe). I would however draw the line at just because they can place him with another club at a higher level. Sadly though, if JT had been scoring all those goals in a winning side, we might not have lost him in the first place.

I guess it works both ways - what with Thorn and Terry both being recalled - but again were they on "season-long" loans or month-to-moth because of Non-league rulings?!?

I guess the clubs taking these players on loan know of the possibilities of the player being recalled if doing well and have the option of cancelling if the loan is not going as well as planned, so it fits both sides and as Matt Sadler at Walsall said that they were lucky to get Lowe in the first place and are very happy with his contribution when he was there!

The thing I do not like is the hoovering up of talent by the "top clubs" that have no real ambition to play or develop some of these players and just use them as a way to get around FFP (or whatever it is called nowadays!)
