The BBC completely ignore a weekend of football achievement Tuesday, 5th Apr 2022 13:00 by @Cornish67David It sometimes requires an explanation, that is the complete black out on reporting football news on Monday evenings prime time sports bulletin on BBC Wales. We know of at least thirty complaints that have been made as a result of this decision, but still the BBC are remain silent. Wrexham, who are in north Wales for any BBC employee in Cardiff, won a FA Trophy semi final and nothing was mentioned. They get to Wembley but it isn’t deemed news. Swansea City absolutely destroyed Cardiff City on the weekend and achieved a history making double. And nothing was mentioned. Much has been said over the years about the BBC and their reluctance to report on any matter that isn’t a success for Cardiff City. Well, here we are again, raising the question. We do have numerous contacts at the BBC but wouldn’t put them on the spot with the question as to the continued black out on Swansea City achievements, and of course that of Wrexham. However on three occasions we have asked to speak to the head of sport at BBC Wales. The first call was politely declined. The second angrily rejected, and the third resulted in the phone being disconnected. Obviously these calls were made friendly and with a sympathetic leaning towards a two way conversation to discuss this issue. As it stands we have no ‘other viewpoint’ So what are we expected to believe ? Especially when the company in this issue doesn’t respond in any way. We are merely a drop in the ocean when it comes to reporting matters such as this. However if recent figures are to be reviewed you can expect around ten thousand views of this article. So we leave it out there again for the BBC. This is our email - Swansea.Independent1@gmail.co.uk Because as it stands from a sporting point of view, this is quite alarming.
