Mr 'Blackpool FC' Chris Hull has died
Sunday, 31st May 2015 13:15 by Editor

For a whole generation of Blackpool fans, his dulcet tones at Bloomfield Road on a Saturday afternoon used to make him Mr 'Blackpool FC' and so it's with great sadness that Seasiders have learnt today of the death of Chris Hull.

His son Chris announced it on Facebook today: ' It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to inform you of the very sudden passing of my father Chris Hull, aged just 64, this morning. A funeral director serving the community, a lifelong Blackpool FC supporter, PA announcer at Bloomfield Road for 30 years, writer of plays...among many other countless roles you will no doubt recall. The most incredibly generous and caring man I will ever know. He would literally give you his last penny. He was just coming to the end of his holiday in Italy with my mother and had just visited Capri and was smiling until the end. Anyone that knew him will know that you could not find anyone as giving and full of fun and laughter. From his humble council house beginnings on First Avenue in Poulton-le-Fydle to the most honest, inspirational and self-deprecating success...an incredible journey and life well lived. He made a positive impression on the World everywhere he went and life will not be the same without him. Please feel free to share to his thousands of friends and please recall your favourite memories of him. It will offer my mum and sister Claire - and anyone who liked or loved him - all great comfort. I couldn't be prouder he was my dad. Chris x

The tunnel fracas with Steve McMahon will live long in the mind. What a sad day and what a horrible time for us to leave him with his beloved Blackpool in the shape it is. Shame on you Oyston's for killing so many people's dreams.

The work that Chris and his son put in to the Morty statue and the 53 dinner some years later will be to their eternal credit and what has happened since to the Oyston's eternal shame. So sad to hear this news and thoughts are with Chris and his family.
