Just back in Wales from holiday in Europe ... While I was away I saw some articles about broadband providers including Sky and EE blocking streams and possibly suspending TV accounts if their customers were caught using feeds along the lines of wiziwig ... anyone got any updates on this?
The other thing we're probably forgetting about is this is a World Cup Summer - don't transfer fees go through the roof in a World cup year? Not to mention the ever increasing pots of gold that the Broadcasters keep throwing at PL clubs each year?
In that context it wouldn't surprise me to see us getting £30 million plus for Mawson and if Fabs has a good World Cup he'll go for significantly more than £5m...
I've been thinking about the team selection for Sunday and taking into account some of the Oxford comments about us not knowing what to expect from a lower league team ... also Curt's comments about team selection.
So we know Nordfelt, Tabanou and Shelvey will play too from AC's comments. Seems to make sense to build a team with a good proportion of players who've got experience of the lower leagues.
So for me, I'd play Rangel (and keep Naughton for Wednesday), Ash - he's shown he doesn't get fatigued or easily injured, Grimes, Leon, and maybe McBurnie - he's been scoring in League Two the past couple of seasons. Taylor might play using this logic too, though maybe Tabanou plays LB with Montero further forward.
Centre back - Bartley gets the nod -save FF for Sunderland - and while I like Amat better than Bartley (who has seems to have a rush of blood at least once every game that leaves us exposed), I think for this game Bartley's experience in the Championship and his height will give us something for this game.
The other thing that can kill a lower league team is pace - so I'd love to see what Barrow and Montero would do to their full backs.
So my team:
Nordfelt DEFENCE Rangel/ Bartley/ Ash /and either NT or Tabanou MIDFIELD Leon/ Grimes/ Shelvey WINGS Barrow/ and either Montero or Tabanou STRIKER McBurnie
SUBS Fabianski/Amat or FF/Kingsley or NT/ Gylfi/ Cork/ Gomis
I've asked a few people and can quite categorically state (you heard it here first) ... that I HAVEN'T GOT A CLUE who the next Swans manager is going to be ...
At the moment, that's true ... but you can see with his clever touches, decent vision and blistering pace that with coaching and the right development path, he could become frighteningly good ... it's a cliche, but you can't coach pace ...
He was highly effective in today's game for sure :)
On today's game, Routs and Montero were our most threatening looking wingers ... having said that, Ayew got himself into some great positions for scoring - and in last week's friendly he scored one and should have scored another ...
So for me, I think I'd persevere with Ayew (Right) and Montero (Left) ... Ayew seemed to improve in the second half ... he's still settling in ...
Dude with long name signed by St. Etienne today from the scum - article from May links the two moves together ... maybe this contributed to the delay too ..
Good play by Jazz ... thing is we need to keep improving year on year ... and that means upgrading on squad players who are good players with players who are better than just good ...
He found keeping fit hard enough in his twenties ... so it's a No from me - even though he was a great player and is still scary good - when fit and in form ...
I'm sure the deal would prove "too rich" for us anyway - especially for an older player with a history of dodgy fitness
If he's a better backup striker than Emnes, then worth keeping him ...
GM will have seen more of Oliveira and Emnes as players than we have, so I'm happy to leave the decision on this to them ... Oliveira was starting to flash some potential pre-injury ...
