There was a plot of land being sold opposite the megastore wharfside a couple of years back. I dont know what happened to that. But losing 200+ car spaces cant be good for staff on matchdays. La Salle paid £3m for the central trading estate freehold in 2002 |

You not been to st marys recently then and how the footprint has shrunk due to the fanzone s. Thats why i said this current layout would not work. You would for example shift everything back and that would them allow for the chapel stand increase. Incidentally due to crowd congestion the fencing around St Marys stadium might well have to be removed for safety reasons. It was somewhat chaotic against Forest pre match and it appears nobody at the club or council foresaw this safety issue. I hate to think what would happen in an emergency evacuation. A golden opportunity exists to maybe acquire the land adjacent to the chapel stand that was occupied by warehouse units destroyed by a fire. The freehold of the central trading estate is owned by Lasalle management, who purchased it from the original owners, the coal pension fund. I don’t see how any expansion can go ahead with the current layout unless surrounding land is acquired. |
| Forum Reply | Southampton At Brentford The Damning Verdict at 14:54 2 Sep 2024
The opposition from Neawcastle then Forest and now Brentford will have all done midweek training based around us always playing out from the back and applying the pressure. You could see that straightaway on Saturday and nothing was done to change it. The worst part on Saturday was Martin more or less starting 3-5-2 after it flopped against Forest and he admitted to that. a week ago. So he will have to sort out the fomration and have players in their rught roles first and clearly something needs to be done about the shambolic one trick playing out from the back. Smallbone and Stephens are both on sub duty against United |

Its a maybe, looking at what West Ham fans have been saying about him regarding his lack of pace, im wondering if hes worth an exspensive slot on the benches. |

Back in the 90s it was all the band |

I saw them a number of times inc Knebworth and had all the records. This was only going to work if Bonehead, Guigsy and one one of the old drummers were involved. Its literally now going to be Liam singing with the High Flying Birds, which ok does contain a former secondary member. Its not Oasis in my eyes and really both Noel and Liam have kept the songs going on their sets since the split. |

I would expect to see some improvement, if we start winnning games. But its still never going to be the w@ank dream that some fans want ala dortmund or some other euro ultra cesspit. Im sure the 'saints 1885' will be giving out more instructions and telling fans to jump up a down etc |

A total and utter flop and that was always going to be the case. Whats happening on the pitch dictates the crowd in our case. Last season showed that away fans in the northam made no difference. Go back to 2002 2003 and 5000 away fans and the place was rocking becuase of what was happening on the pitch. There was nothing differennt yesterday to dozens of games at St Marys even with a full northam home end. Lets not though discriminate againnts Saints fans in other stands, the northam is just one stand and shouldnt dictate. |

The formation didnt work and wasnt changed until it was too late. So, that has to be down to Martin. |

Who put that clown in the fanzone yesterday ? Years of embarrassing our club and Phil Parsons starts sucking his plums. Just two weeks ago he was having a pop at the clubs charity foundation. Parsons is going to learn the hard way. |

Its hard to say at his young age if hes goes to be any good for PL, at the moment hes not. That said he or indeed anybody between the sticks will struggle with poor defending infront. |

Its embarrasing and he simply had to bend over and there would have still been a red card. |

Plenty of positives and a couple of great saves from Pope stopped an equaliser. |
| Forum Reply | And there we have it at 18:06 17 Aug 2024
Since Russell Martiin has been manager ive seen this happen several times and by now i would have changed the mentality that the goalkeeper can hoof it if required. Its asking for trouble to play out with so many opposition are in the box and doesnt matter who is between the sticks. |
