We attacked the Sandy in the second half v Southampton. We were already 2-0 up at the break though! Don't think it has an affect either way to be honest. |

Then surely the last touch came off a Scunthorpe player, meaning Henderson couldn't be offside? |

If they were playing, it would be at the expense of others. Then people would be questioning why those players aren't playing. It's a squad game. |

That was back in September, he was given three games. How is there nine games difference between that and Calvin's? |

Idiots will speculate about fallings out etc. even if he came and out said players were injured. Because they're idiots. The "will he be available or not" point, surely our point is exactly the same? That's what they'll be wondering, and it may cause slight confusion. Marginal gains! |

Excellent subs indeed. Allowed us to move forward quickly, which unsettled them. Didn't see any variation of a 4-4-2 though. Andrew spent most of the game coming from a wide position, and was excellent. Odelusi's best display also, played in behind Davies when he came on. Wouldn't be surprised to see the team that finished, start on Tuesday. |

Maybe Hilly didn't specify what the injuries were that caused them to miss out yesterday, because that could point to them either being available or not against Bolton/Charlton? That could lead to the opposition preparing to face a different team than we will actually field, giving us a very slight advantage. Marginal gains. |

What were these tactics? |

RNL - injured, hence not on the bench. JT - won't start many games but did OK today until his final ball. I doubt we'd have got better for the money he's probably on. Will always split opinion (personally was a fan in his first spell, but not so keen to see him starting this time around). McNulty - awful start to the season but in the final ten games or so of last season he was excellent at full back. Maybe a lack of form, it can happen. Rathbone - his time will come. He's probably found the transition to training in "men's football" difficult, judge this signing again around Christmas. Camps - had a poor pre-season for me and wouldn't surprise me if talk of a move in the summer has made him lose his focus a little (only natural). Same goes for Allen to be fair. If they stay I think we will see the best of them again from September onwards. We've played some decent stuff so far this season. Mistakes cost us against P'boro, Sheff U and today. Port Vale was just a poor performance. If we're still struggling to pick up points in another six games time I'll start to worry. We've started slow under Hill before and been absolutely fine (better than). Can understand why questions are being asked but I'm more relaxed about it all. We'll go on a good run in September, creep back into the top half and all will be rosy again. Trust. |

Lack of young people attending matches = people moan. Lack of atmosphere at home matches = people moan. Young people attend home match and try to create atmosphere = people moan! |

Wilshere is our only midfielder with star quality. I'm not saying he's World class - far from it - but he's the only one with that something extra. He can beat a man from the centre of the park, pick out a defence splitting pass (see Oxlade-Chamberlain's goal away at Scotland), and has a great footballing brain and movement to worry opposition. Especially against the teams in our group who will set up negatively, where we need something special to break them down. Drinkwater has had an incredible season, but his role is a relatively simple one. It can be performed by the likes of Dier, Henderson and even Milner (although I'm not the latter's biggest fan). There's no need for another player of that type. Also, the fact Roy has worked with Wilshere for four years will go against Drinkwater. People might argue that it shouldn't matter how long players have been around the squad, but to Hodgson it obviously does. Drinkwater has been unlucky that he's only been involved in one squad before this summer. Wilshere's injury record is the biggest risk. Same with Sturridge. If those two - and to a lesser extent Henderson - pick up injuries, it could blow up in the manager's face. |

Brace yourselves for the "how have we not beaten Crewe at home?" overreaction. |

Completely agree with the second poster, the way some people went on (poster above for example) you'd think he was a complete liability. Our defensive record proves this just isn't the case. He's by no means the best centre half we've had, but certainly by no means the worst. He's not the most graceful runner with or without the ball and I think people mistake this for nervousness/lack of ability. Eastham was excellent last season, but because of our defensive record, Lancashire hasn't done anything to deserve to be dropped. In fact when Lancs was left out the side Eastham didn't have the best of games either! I'm more than happy to have him alongside McNulty, they've made a good pairing this season. |

When fit he has to play. Thought he was excellent in the second half, even in the first half you could tell he was up for it. Someone mentioned he was running away from through balls, but I thought he was making some great runs and his movement was fantastic. He just wasn't found the majority of the time. If he plays well we've got half a chance in every game. Class above when he's on form. |

Bunney, then Calvin in the second. Henderson hasn't played as the striker since Milwall away though, IIRC. It's been Alessandra / Andrew until yesterday when Bunney was up there. |
