Mini Quiz, 20:13 - Apr 13 with 2950 views | oldcob | I've been compiling pub quizzes for more years than I can remember, raising over £40,000 in the process, starting in the early days when it was 2 pence for a wrong answer. Used many different formats along the line. I just thought I'd give you a taste by just asking two of the most interesting questions I've asked. If popular I could do more next week. Q1. When do the All Blacks not perform the Haka before the game? Q2. Why are Austrailian girls known as "Sheila's?
Mini Quiz, on 20:23 - Apr 13 with 2920 views | Garyjack | Without googling, i'd guess that Q1 is when they play the Moaris?
Mini Quiz, on 20:25 - Apr 13 with 2912 views | WxmJax | 1. When they're not actually playing 2. An emigrated Scouser coined the phrase when he thought that the local women looked like transvestites. Am I close ? Otherwise I haven't a clue.

That's exactly right hortonjack. When there's not a Maori in the team. Now for question 2. The Australian women become Sheilas for the following reason: As everybody knows the Australian nation as we know it was made up of prisoners, mainly from London and Ireland (hence the accent). The prisoners were thought not worthy of being given a name so they were called "lags" of course there were female prisoners exported too, and they became know as she-lags. The original spelling of Sheila, which is still used by some was Shelagh, hence Sheila. Funny story about the controversial English fast bowler Fred Truman, a bit of a cad to say the least, when going to Australia for an Ashes series, he was asked at customs "Do you have a prison record?" Fred replied cheekily " I didn't realise it was still a requirement"

They wouldn't repeat what they did the year before for the WRU, so they had a strop. The WRU in 2005 wanted to mark the centenary of the 1905 victory by following the order of events that day 100 years ago. In 2006 the WRU wanted the same but the All Blacks declined and had a poody.

I think it was 2004 Dicky? I was there that night, and the Haka was followed by that Go Compare bloke singing Guide me O thou Great Redeemer with a Welsh flag. We should have beaten them but lost by a point. They had a poody the following game because the Haka wasn't going to be last on our home ground when our (northern hemisphere) gate receipts is the only thing that kept their bankrupt ego trip on the road. Total w*nkers. We should have refused it in every match from that day forward unless our fat Go Compare man came after it. As to Sheilas. My Irish sister in law's sister lives out there and is called Shelagh, and she swears blind it is named after her.... Or some such Irish tomfoolery anyway.
