Had a brief discussion about this yesterday. I've heard a few people say that if we do manage to go up this season, we would be battered week in week out in the Championship and relegated straight away, so it would be better to remain in League 1, build a more solid foundation etc and then have a real crack it. I understand that viewpoint, but I completely disagree with it. Obviously the odds would be massively stacked against us in the Championship, but I would rather go up, experience that level of football and stadia and come straight back down than never have it at all. And you just never know - I would never write off this side under Hillcroft. Plus, if we don't go up, I wouldn't be surprised if Hill and Flicker move on to bigger and better things - will we ever get another opportunity like this under another manager? But, if we did achieve promotion, I'd like to think that they would stay for another season and have a crack at keeping us up. | |
