The easy way out of Huw’s financial mess is to get promoted !!! 11:44 - Aug 9 with 2186 views | BarryTownSwam | Whatever the financial side of relegation and whatever the success of trimming wages, offloading high earning unachievers and rebuilding the squad, the easiest way out of this mess is to get promoted !! Keep Fede, get Bony & Fer fit and firing, get the team playing the way Potter wants it to, have a bit of luck and I’d be hopeful we can do something this season .... Not saying we’re going up but given the above scenario I’m positive we can give it a good go and get out of this financial mess.

But you know..we can't really do a Newcastle..in their championship season they had a huge wage bill of 110 m (It didn't look like their players had relegation clauses)..they got promoted directly but you can see them paying the price this season..unable to do any decent transfer business..had to sign Ki for free ffs..couldn't even get a deal for Fede and their net transfer is minus 20 m or so right now..Things might catch up to them. Imo..some reasonable wage cutting can prevent problems like these..

We need to find our feet in terms of on the pitch, our finances, and a few sycophants in the boardroom need to f#ck off as well.

Newcastle's players didn't have relegation clauses but they were spending less than we have been in the PL. Their Championship wage bill went up £30m or so because they bought in 12 new players, and not cheap ones either (Ritchie, Gayle etc.) Mike Ashley wants his money back from that season (and previous), had to put another £15m into the petty cash tin to keep them ticking over. Club owes him £150m in interest free loans, and Newcastle fans want him to see him spend £10/15/20m on new players. Leave Fede alone you fcks.
The easy way out of Huw’s financial mess is to get promoted !!! on 12:02 - Aug 9 with 2078 views | Shaky | The problem with the OP's theory is that the financial rewards in the Prem are just not as significant as you might think, especially for clubs with as lopsided a cost structure as Swansea has had. That needs to be swept aside before Swansea can become a viable business, and that really needs to happen somewhere below the Prem, where the pressure to perform is too great not to make expensive signings. But that is not enough to right the ship; some capital gains are also needed. Happily Potter and his team may just be the right people to achieve this, having been cooked up near the arctic circle where you only have perhaps 5 hours of sunlight during the season, with not much else to do than to research bargains. You have to speculate to accumulate, so get them some capital to go bargain hunting in the lower leagues and build up some player inventory, then hopefully when Swansea get back in the Prem again they can cash out and still have a decent team to continue with.

They also have a stadium/fan base that generates significantly more than we will ever do - our comparable clubs for me would be more along the lines of Bournemouth/Burnley/Huddersfield if/when they come down. Clearly a bounce back up would be the quickest way to resolve the financial issues but it would be even more irresponsible to spend £££££££S & shoot for that than we've been in the last few windows with way too much spunked away on the Ayews, Baston, Mesa, Clucas etc etc.
