There is a phrase used quite often on this forum and also on the official site by our gaffer "early doors" can anyone explain this to me as it doesn't make sense. Early days is what I think is meant but when did it get corrupted, I have never heard it used anywhere except here and the Dale site.Is it in common usage in the UK or is it a Rochdale only thing.
It's not particularly new or local and I remember similar discussions about the phrase 20 odd years or so ago. I think it was Ron Atkinson who had used it - something like 'getting the ball in early doors' - and the conclusion was that he just meant 'early'
