The Official Swansea City Versus Crystal Palace Premier League Match Thread 12:14 - Nov 22 with 41431 viewsjackharris

Venue: Liberty Stadium, Landore, Swansea, UK
Date: Saturday 26th November 2016
Kick Off: 15:00 (UK time)
TEAM NEWS
Swansea's South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-yeung has been ruled out for around two weeks with a toe injury. Captain Leon Britton is fit again after missing the draw at Everton with a calf injury, while Jefferson Montero is also available following a hand problem. Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley has returned to training this week after a knock and could be involved. However, Loic Remy will be out for a further three weeks with a calf injury, and Steve Mandanda remains sidelined.

MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES
John Roder: "This is not the most glamorous fixture in the Premier League this weekend, but it may just be the most important. Two struggling sides under intense scrutiny, both desperate to halt poor runs of form. It's the start of a crucial period for the Swans, who face four of the five teams currently just above them before the end of the year. As has been well documented, Palace have had an awful 2016 in the league - the worst record in the top four English divisions. By the time these teams meet again in early January, both will be hoping to be in a stronger position - starting with a positive result this weekend."

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY
Swansea manager Bob Bradley: "We played a good match against Everton, training has been good this week and now we are ready to push on in a strong way. We are ready to take all of the work we have done and make it count on Saturday. With the support of our fans at the Liberty, I see this game as an opportunity for us to build on the good things we did last week."

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew: "I'm an experienced manager and I have been in this situation before. This is my ninth Premier League season and I want it to be 10 with Crystal Palace. A win would make our position look clearer and take the pressure off us. The points we get in the next few matches will be crucial to where we will finish. Our fans are getting frustrated, they are seeing good performances but we are making mistakes we should not be doing."

LAWRO'S PREDICTION Palace boss Alan Pardew needs a win just as badly as Bob Bradley, his Swansea counterpart. The difference is the Eagles have got players we know can perform in the Premier League, but they are not doing that at the moment. Prediction: 1-1

MATCH FACTS Head-to-head The three previous Premier League meetings between these sides at the Liberty Stadium have all ended 1-1. Swansea are unbeaten in their last five home league games with Palace, although four have been draws.

Swansea haven't won since the opening day of the season. Their 11-game winless run (D3, L8) is a club record in the top flight. Bob Bradley has made the worst start by a Swansea manager in the Premier League, failing to win any of his opening five matches (D2, L3). They have claimed just two points from six home games this season - the fewest in the top flight. The Swans have conceded three goals in four of their last seven league matches. Gylfi Sigurdsson has had a hand in six of Swansea's 11 goals in the Premier League this season (three goals, three assists).

Crystal Palace are on a five-game losing run in the Premier League; they haven't lost six in a row since November 2013 (seven defeats). They have earned 22 points from 31 matches in 2016, an average of 0.71 points per game which is the fewest of any team in the top four divisions in England. The Eagles are the only team yet to keep a Premier League clean sheet this season. They have gone 17 league games without one and conceded 12 goals in their last four matches. Palace have scored a league-high eight headed goals this campaign. Wilfried Zaha has provided an assist in each of his last four Premier League games.

Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

Wish we didn't have to go to WHL next...Fingers crossed we're still within a win of safety going into Sunderland at home.

Honestly I was so fooked off I couldn't take it any more. Having looked forward all week for a chance to stream the game every emotion in my head just couldn't deal with just how much we as a club have fooked ourselves up !

It's not that we are crap it's more about how we have got this by pure design and nothing else.

That's a major frustration and has been for the last 3 yrs thankfully we won but only an idiot would think we are in good shape, no need for it though.

I hope you feel better soon

Just one of those games! 2 teams desperately struggling for confidence and form and it showed. We showed last week we are capable of keeping it tight. I think if we were mid table we would have seen that game out at 3-1 or even 3-2. Hopefully we can push on now and get our confidence back. Start with a striker and siggy or fer on the left next week please bob

Absolutely appalling today really. Never seen the like.

Anyway, watched it on TSN2 and at the end the guy in the studio said we should be more worried than CP even though we won as we've only got one quality player. I find it difficult to argue with that.

If we are going to make a fist of it, January is crucial.

I totally agree with that. The quality from both sides was appalling. Bradley has not inherited a talented squad and I'm glad for him that he has enjoyed his first win.

However he needs to realise that Swans cannot defend a lead, -it's traditional - and we should have kept Barrow on and brought Montero on as well. Llorente caused them lots of problems and we had the initiative - why go on the back foot? It proved disastrous and nearly cost us the game.

Anyway, this was a massive injection of confidence to the players and will definitely help the cause. We cannot defend like that again. We HAVE to be better.
Congratulations to the players and the manager. Phew! I'm off for a lie down.

The emotion of sport has different effects on different people, jacks that work and live away for long spells will agree that you feel the emotion more than when your home . Weird but true !

Anyway 3 pts we won and the players proved they have the heart for a battle, the manager needs to go before he hinders them in their fight for survival .

That could be a pivotal moment in the future of the club.

Now Bradley - play Llorente, keep possession and put crosses in.

And whilst you're at it - never pick FF or Taylor again...

And stop putting on Angel f*cking Rangel to 'defend' a result.

Anyone do a cheeky in-play just before full time. Odds would have been quite good I'd have thought.

Anyone else think it's just the players driving this and bob is bit of a passenger ?

Seems mist if his tactical subs hinder us, everyone could see from the 20 th minute we needed llorente on the field so that's a given .

I did struggle to see how replacing Barrow with Naughton and Rangel slotting into rb was going to help us defend a lead.

Given we were being beaten in the air all match in our box, VDH on would have made a bit more sense. But what do I know?

You know a lot more than bob Bradley !

The only person to pull off that move of 2 full backs on the same side was when tendalli and a vintage rangel played together, one of the main differences being that our squad was younger and far more talented back then.

This bob guy is truely awful at this level. Out of his depth completely IMO.

I agree with you, ......at one of the goals we scored to go 2-1 the bench was up as one and Dyer was over the moon, later when we were losing Bradley could be seen clearly talking to himself .
Please not Coach Bradley .......the Swans are Sh*te the majority of the time at trying to defend a lead, we are well known for self destructing, at 3-1 we should have been looking for the 4th and 5th then. FFS .

That game just about sums up Bradley................... Totally clueless.

Start without a striker and we're too deep. Put one on and it makes a difference, take an offensive player off for a defender and it goes to crap, put another offensive player on and we win.

Sorry Bob, you don't belong in charge of a youth football team. You're not even fit to clean the boots of a PL team.

Probably saw Rangel coming on to shore up the dee-fence in one of FG's videos.

Couldn't grasp that we needed someone who could head the fûcking ball. Perhaps he needs someone to explain things to him when he watches the videos.

I thought we lost 3-1. Silly me.

It was 0-2 when the Swans game ended. Must have been 2 late goals. I thought I was looking at the final score. Anyway it's irrelevant to my point.

Just got in, still shaking my head in disbelief, we were dreadful in the first 20 minutes and then shaped up a bit.
The second half was just unbelievable, two abysmal defence performances.. entertaining to watch I suppose but as far as football is concerned it was bloody awful.
